The Oilers are an adventure again at both ends of the rink

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of in-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' home-and-home against the Canucks, offered their takes on the chaos, the Saturday's matchup against Seattle, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about which goaltender was better after both goaltenders got lit up in very real ways through the first two games of the year. Given that neither goalie was able to get themselves to an .80o save percentage, it was interesting to hear the boys try and figure out which of the two was better. But when you've got two guys with a combined 13 goals against, choosing which guy was better can be increasingly difficult. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to the disastrous defensive effort the Oilers put down in the first two games of the season, and how it was almost hilarious to watch given how much they spoke about playing better in their own end. While there are plenty of things that need to get cleaned up and injuries all over the lineup, the reality is that this team needs to figure things out as quickly as humanly possible to avoid digging a hole for themselves. Doable? Certainly. Likely? Only time will tell. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, Hot and Cold Performers, league-wide takes that popped up after running through the news, and wrapped up the podcast with some words of hope from Producer Reece. With the NHL season finally underway, the boys had fun breaking everything down while still getting excited about what's to come. It's finally time for the Oilers' season opener

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' season opener, the early injury issues, previewed tonight's game, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Oilers' injury news that came out today, including Ryan Nugent-Hopkins being out for a couple of weeks and Matt Savoie being upwards of eight weeks away. Toss in the fact that Jason Dickinson also isn't ready to go, and you've got a whole lot of bad news piling up before the season has even started. Needless to say, hearing that so many key players are out of the lineup already is... less than ideal. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to Tuesday's season opener against Vancouver, starting with Tristan Jarry getting the start and the newly formed line combinations after all of these injuries. While injuries can happen at any time in the NHL, it's not exactly great that all of Edmonton's plans they had for their lineup in the offseason are already being shifted around. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk before wrapping up the podcast with a round of Baggedmilk's Trivia and score predictions ahead of the home opener. After waiting around for months to finally get going, the boys were excited about having the season get going even if it's starting with some dire news regarding 30% of the team's top six. Either way, the NHL is back and there is nothing better than the start of a fresh hockey season. The Oilers season predictions episode

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the upcoming Oilers season, offered up their predictions on the year, the final pre-season game of the year, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the RIPNation party for tomorrow night, and which staffer will end up wearing the crown when the night wraps. If you don't know what the crown is, it's which staffer will drink too much and make the most of what will be an incredible night for everyone at Nation HQ and the Nation Citizens in attendance. Either way, it's going to be a fantastic night, and one everyone is incredibly excited about. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to our season predictions for the 2026-27 season. From goal totals to team points to how the goaltenders will do, it's almost a lot of fun to take swings at how we think the players will do for the upcoming year. If you've heard the boys do their pre-season predictions before, you'll know that this exercise is something they've all struggled with mightily over the years. But can you blame anyone for being bullish right in the middle of Kool-Aid szn. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, Hot and Cold Performers, any non-prediction takes that popped up after running through the list, and wrapped up the podcast with some pre-party words of hope from Producer Reece. With the NHL season only days away from kicking off, the boys had fun breaking everything down and getting excited about what's to come. 🤝 SPONSORS 🙌 Powered by bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/ (Use code: NATION) 🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. Breaking down the first days of Oilers training camp

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of ONR is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed Oilers training camp, Mike Babcock's first spin as the head coach, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether the boys had any takeaways from the first two days of Oilers camp, and whether there are any early storylines that the boys have been paying attention to. Whether it's line combos, some early injuries scares, and seeing Mike Babcock on the ice as the coach for the first time, all eyes are on the Oilers are we lead into the 2026-27 season. Needless to say, we're still in the early days, but that doesn't stop the Kool-Aid from going down smooth. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to some of the other news the Oilers announced this past week, including the announcement of Evan Bouchard and Zach Hyman as alternate captains. While that conversation was happening, the boys quickly pivoted to our man Woz vlogging his way through Poland. Getting back to the NHL, the guys discussed former friend Shawn Horcoff being named interim GM in Detroit, and how he has an absolute disaster to clean up.  Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the first week of the NFL season, the Elks locking in their playoff spot, Stanley Cup odds, and wrapped up the podcast with a special musical performance from Producer Reece. With the NHL season only weeks away from kicking off, the boys had fun breaking everything down and getting excited about what's to come. 🤝 SPONSORS 🙌 Powered by bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/ (Use code: NATION) 🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. The Oilers are back in town and the Elks can clinch a playoff berth

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers signing Alex Formenton, the start of the NFL season, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Alex Formenton being signed by the Oilers on Wednesday, and how the decision to bring him to town caused all kinds of noise around the franchise. For a lot of Oilers fans, the backstory on the player should have eliminated the opportunity play on the best league on earth. While the noise was certainly loud from the fanbase, the reality of the situation is that the team does not care.  Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to a discussion about training camp, and whether there are any players who have a chance to make an impact and steal a spot. Two players that were worthy of an in-depth discussion were Josh Samanski and Isaac Howard, as both young men are looking to get themselves established. While both guys had flashes at the NHL level, neither has done enough to necessarily have their spots written in ink.  Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the start of the NFL season, the Elks' opportunity to lock in a playoff spot, and wrapped up the podcast with a special musical performance from Producer Reece. Bounce back Oilers, injury worries, and the Connor Hellebuyck situation

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers primed for a bounce back, expectations for Trent Frederic, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about which Oilers player the fellas are most excited about as bets to bounce back or have a strong 2026-27 season. Whether it's Trent Frederic having a better year in Edmonton or Jason Dickinson doing what he can to improve the power play, the fellas had plenty of options for players who could have a larger impact on the roster. We also discussed a player like Josh Samanski taking a step forward this season even though many Oilers fans are already bullish on what he might do. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to a discussion about Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl playing together on the first, and whether or not Stan Bowman's plan makes sense for the team as its currently built. Sticking with the lineup, the guys walked through the Oilers' injury woes and speculated on how those situations will play out, given how different each of these players are. The most notable injury, of course, would be to Matt Savoie, who will be expected to make a difference in the top six once he is back in the lineup. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed some NHL rumours, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there. 🤝 SPONSORS 🙌 Powered by bet365 → http://www.bet365.ca/ (Use code: NATION) 🥙 Swiss Donair → https://swissdonair.com/ Hosted on Acast. We want to go watch the Oilers play in Germany

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers in Global Series, the Elks' game against Winnipeg, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Edmonton Oilers going back to Germany for the 2027 Global Series, and which country the boys would love travelling to to watch the team play hockey. Whether it's actually going to the games in Germany or any of the hockey-mad surrounding countries, there are plenty of spots overseas that the boys would love to go to. Will they be able to convince Jay that this trip needs to happen? We say yes. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to the latest rankings in The Athletic that had the Oilers listed as 31st overall in the league in terms of prospect depth. While some folks were upset about being dead last, the reality is that good teams with Stanley Cup aspirations tend to trade picks and prospects to better the team today. Up next, the guys broke down the clip of Josh Samanski from a German dating show, and how it was an unbelievable clip to watch, especially when you weren't expecting it. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' game tonight at Commonwealth, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. Let's Talk About Daily Faceoff Edmonton

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed moving from Oilersnation to Daily Faceoff Edmonton, the Elks' game against Toronto, another round of Ask the Idiots, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Oilersnation moving to Daily Faceoff Edmonton and offered a behind the scenes look at how the decision was made. Given that there was a lot of misinformation about what happened, the boys started the podcast with a discussion about the reason for the change and offered a promise that the content you've grown to love will not be changing. They also discussed the plan for re-naming the podcast and what the approach is for the show going forward. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to the Oilers and discussed the limited news that came out over the last week or so. Starting with the Oilers' goaltending depth, the guys wondered what the approach is for the Oilers' on their depth chart now that they have eight goalies signed on their pro ranks. They also spoke about Jeff Skinner signing a one-year contract in Switzerland, and how it's wild to see how quickly his long NHL career absolutely fell off a cliff.  Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed the Edmonton Elks' hot run in the CFL, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map with the lack of Oilers news. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a few hockey stories before having the podcast wind up in the ditch from there.
