    Ep. 15 What makes some resilient and some resentful in processing trauma? W/ Kyle Spears MFT

    Kyle Spears is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Certified Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Nebraska. He works in private practice at the Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska utilizing EMDR in working with Complex Trauma, PTSD, and DID. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, he works to help heal marriages and complex family issues. He also specializes in helping men with trauma, masculinity, and depression. Last year he started a YouTube channel and a podcast and has a website where people can go to get resources for issues that relate to trauma and theology. Kyle is currently working on his first book that will provide a basic understanding of trauma to equip both ministers and members. He is also working on a book with Michael Burns called the “The Big Lie” that will address the aspect of racial and intergenerational trauma.     Bob Utley has been  a pastor and a professor for 51 years. He holds a Masters in Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate in Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Bob has held faculty positions at several colleges in the U.S. such as East Texas Baptist University, as well as positions at universities in Armenia, Serbia, Haiti, and Mexico. He’s taught several TV/Radio commissioned series including “Verse By Verse” and “Life and Work” and Currently is also the content maker and curator of “freebiblecommentary.org” which has a YouTube channel and nearly 20k subscribers, His commentary has also been included in the logos bible software.     Steve Staten is a trainer, speaker and organizational health consultant. He has worked with single and multisite churches of 250 to 6,000 members in Hawaii, Alaska, California, Florida, the Midwest, Canada and the UK, as well as a global nonprofit and a nonprofit in Asia. Steve’s early professional life began at Fermilab in 1979 and spans nine years in engineering, where he worked with high energy, sound, radar and computer design. In 1988, Steve and his wife went into ministry full-time, where he acquired over twenty-five years of experience in church leadership, overseeing staff education, pastoring and managing conflict. He has a Master’s degree in Theology (1997) and a Master’s degree in Conflict Management (2013). And Steve is certified with a Safety / Risk Management method and philosophy called Just Culture. He's a big proponent of collaboration and recently published, The Art of Breakthrough: Collaborating on Audacious Undertakings. Steve is a project coordinator for the Disciples Center for Education, a nonprofit initiative that helps fund the Teleios Journal and PhD scholarships for qualifying individuals.
