Hannah Picard – When Praise Invites the Miraculous: A Story of Faith, Hope, and God's Faithfulness

Even in life's darkest moments, God is still worthy of our praise. In this inspiring episode of Road to Redemption, Valerie Peterson sits down with Hannah Picard, author of Dear Asher: When Praise Invited in the Miraculous of Our God and founder of Made to Praise Ministries, to share an extraordinary journey of faith, heartbreak, miracles, and unwavering trust in God. After losing her younger sister, Molly, unexpectedly in 2008, Hannah experienced the pain of unanswered prayers. Yet through her grief, she continued to hold on to God's promises and discovered that praise could become a powerful source of strength. Years later, while pregnant with her son Asher, Hannah faced another heartbreaking challenge. Doctors discovered that her water had broken prematurely and that her baby had no amniotic fluid. She was advised to terminate the pregnancy because of the serious medical risks. But Hannah and her husband, Johnny, chose to continue the pregnancy, trusting God through an uncertain and frightening journey. After 65 days in the hospital, countless prayers, and the support of a community that became known as Team Asher, their son was born at 32 weeks and five days. Hannah shares how this experience deepened her faith and inspired her to encourage others to praise God, even when circumstances seem impossible. Through Made to Praise Ministries, she now travels and encourages people to recognize God's goodness in both joyful and difficult seasons. Her story reminds us: God is faithful even when we don't understand His plans. Praise can strengthen us in the middle of suffering. Unanswered prayers do not mean God has abandoned us. Gratitude helps us recognize God's goodness in everyday moments. Faith grows when we continue trusting Him through uncertainty. And no matter how difficult the journey becomes, we can always find a reason to praise. Hannah also encourages listeners to stay connected to God's Word, find a supportive church community, and build relationships rooted in honesty, accountability, and prayer. Her testimony is a reminder that even when life doesn't unfold the way we imagined, God can bring hope, purpose, and encouragement through our stories. What would happen if you chose to praise God, even in the middle of your hardest season? Valerie Peterson & Caroline Hawkins – Finding Hope and Healing Through Grief and Loss

Grief changes our lives, but even in our deepest pain, God's love and presence remain. In this deeply personal episode of Road to Redemption, Valerie Peterson sits down with her daughter, Caroline Hawkins, to share their family's journey through grief, loss, healing, and finding hope in Jesus Christ. Five years ago, Valerie lost her husband of 36 years, and Caroline lost her father, after a heartbreaking battle with COVID-19. Their family prayed, believed for healing, and trusted God. But when their prayers were not answered the way they hoped, they faced overwhelming sorrow and uncertainty. Through their grief, they discovered that God's presence does not disappear when life becomes painful. Caroline shares how a powerful dream about her father brought her peace and comfort during one of the most difficult seasons of her life. She also recalls the unexpected blessing of giving birth to her son Asher on her late father's birthday—a beautiful reminder of hope in the middle of heartbreak. Together, Valerie and Caroline discuss the importance of allowing ourselves to grieve, leaning on God's strength, and finding support through faith, family, and community. Their message reminds us: Grief is a process, not an event. Healing takes time, and everyone's journey is different. It's okay to feel sadness, anger, and uncertainty. You don't have to face loss alone. God is close to the brokenhearted. And even in seasons of sorrow, there is still hope. They also share insights from their family's book, Our Family's Journey Through Grief and Loss, available on Amazon, offering encouragement and practical guidance for those navigating difficult seasons. One of Valerie's most meaningful reminders is to take life one day, or even one hour, at a time. You don't have to figure out tomorrow today. Sometimes, trusting God means simply asking Him for the strength to get through the next moment. Your grief may always be part of your story, but it does not have to take away your hope. John and Val Talk Unity

The internet has made it easy to “win” an argument and incredibly hard to keep a relationship. John Martin and Valerie Peterson go straight at the tension many Christians feel right now: we say we want peace, but our words and posts often create more offense, more division, and colder love. We anchor the conversation in Scripture and bring it into everyday life. You’ll hear the call to “love deeply,” practice humility and patience, and live at peace with everyone, even when politics and strong opinions are involved. We talk about what “pray without ceasing” can look like in real time, especially right before you hit send. Valerie shares the simple wisdom of “Can we agree to disagree?” and why active listening helps people feel heard without surrendering your convictions. Then we get practical: stop trying to settle big conflict through comments, DMs, and texts. We explain why face-to-face conversations build understanding, how presence and self-control protect unity, and why forgiveness is not optional if we want peace in our homes, churches, and friendships. We also share our three pillars for staying grounded: get into the Word, commit to a Christ-centered Bible-believing church, and find a small group where you can be accountable and real. If you’ve felt pulled into online battles or weighed down by offense, listen now, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find it. Keeping Your Marriage Strong Through Faith and Intentionality

Strong marriages don't happen by accident. They require faith, intentionality, communication, and a willingness to keep choosing each other. In this special conversation on Road to Redemption, John Martin sits down with co-host Valerie Peterson to discuss her book, Keeping Your Marriage Strong: 10 Tips for Dynamic Marriage, and practical ways couples can strengthen their relationship. Valerie encourages couples to keep God first while making their spouse a priority. As life becomes filled with children, work, responsibilities, and distractions, couples can slowly lose the connection they once had. Her encouragement is simple: be intentional. Make time for date nights. Create romance again. Laugh together. Put the phones away. Plan time away from your normal routine. Listen to your spouse instead of always trying to fix the problem. And when conflict comes, don't immediately point the finger at your spouse. Ask God to show you what needs to change within you. Valerie also reminds couples that asking for help is not a sign of weakness. Counseling, marriage groups, trusted accountability, and healthy Christian community can provide support when a relationship is struggling. Her message reminds us: Keep God at the center of your marriage. Make your spouse a priority. Get back to dating and laughing together. Communicate with love and respect. Protect trust in your relationship. Be willing to apologize and forgive. Seek help when you need it. And most importantly—be intentional. Even if only one person begins making healthy changes, it can begin changing the dynamics of the relationship. Don't simply wait and hope your marriage becomes stronger someday. Start investing in it today. What is one intentional step you can take today to strengthen your marriage? Misty Parenzan – From Addiction and Brokenness to Redemption and Peace

God can redeem the parts of our story we thought could never be restored. In this powerful conversation on Road to Redemption, Valerie Peterson sits down with Misty Parenzan, wife, mom of nine, author, and ministry leader, to talk about addiction, redemption, marriage, and learning to live an unoffendable life. Twenty years ago, Misty was trapped in a meth addiction that had lasted more than a decade. During a life-changing week in 2006, a friend stayed beside her, prayed with her, and helped her begin seeking God. Misty describes experiencing a radical deliverance that changed not only her life, but eventually her marriage and family. She finally admitted the truth about her addiction to her husband. Together, they turned to Jesus, began attending church, changed their environment, and started building a completely different life. Today, Misty uses her story to bring hope to others through her books, including He Was Always There and The Unoffendable Wife. The Unoffendable Wife began with a personal challenge from God: go 30 days without allowing her husband to offend her. Thirty days became sixty, then ninety—and eventually transformed the way Misty approached her marriage and relationships. She learned to pause before reacting, invite the Holy Spirit into her response, let go of the need to always be right, and focus on what God wanted to change within her. Her story reminds us: Your past does not have to define your future. God can bring freedom from addiction and brokenness. Forgiveness can be more powerful than offense. Peace can be more important than proving you're right. And surrender can transform our relationships from the inside out. No story is too broken for God to redeem. Julie White – From Fear and Insecurity to Knowing Her Identity in Christ

Knowing God is one thing. Truly knowing who you are in Him can change everything. In this powerful conversation on Road to Redemption, Valerie Peterson sits down with Julie White, an ordained minister, wife, mom, author, and founder of Royal Daughters, to talk about identity, healing, and discovering the love of God as a Father. Julie grew up in church and experienced the presence of God from a very young age. But behind her faith was a home filled with brokenness, fear, and emotional instability. Although she knew Jesus, Julie struggled to feel secure as God's beloved daughter. Years later, while serving in ministry, she began asking God why she wasn't experiencing the love, peace, and joy she saw in His Word. That question began a journey of healing. God started revealing Himself to Julie as a loving Father and showing her who she truly was in Him. She began to understand: She is valued. She is loved. She is a beloved daughter of the King. And she doesn't have to earn God's acceptance. That revelation transformed the way Julie approached her faith, marriage, parenting, relationships, and ministry. Today, Julie helps other women experience that same truth through Royal Daughters and the Princess Perspective Experience, helping women encounter Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Father while discovering their identity in Christ. Her story reminds us: Knowing Jesus is the beginning of a lifelong journey. Healing can happen from generation to generation. Your past does not have to determine your future. And you don't have to earn the love of your Heavenly Father. You are already loved. What would change if you truly believed you were loved, valued, and delighted in by God? Casey Draughn – From Shame and Rejection to Freedom and Purpose

God can take the places where we feel ashamed, rejected, or broken and transform them into freedom, purpose, and joy. In this powerful conversation on Road to Redemption, Valerie Peterson sits down with Casey Draughn, Assistant Director of Be Generous, to talk about foster care, healing, surrender, and discovering her identity in Christ. Casey and her husband, Jason, opened their home to foster children after praying that God would use what He had given them for His purpose. Over nearly ten years, they welcomed around 53 children into their home, becoming a safe and loving place for young people who needed it. But while Casey was helping others, God was also healing her. For years, she struggled with shame and rejection. Although she knew Jesus loved her, she had difficulty believing that truth for herself. Through a Freedom group, confession, prayer, and trusted community, Casey began experiencing freedom and learning to replace shame with what God's Word says about her. She discovered a powerful truth: She is God's daughter. She is wanted. She is cherished. Today, Casey serves women through Be Generous, a nonprofit providing a 24-month residential program for women coming out of substance abuse disorder and sexual exploitation. Casey's story reminds us to: Give your shame and rejection to God. Stay rooted in His Word. Find godly community and accountability. Bring God your honest emotions—even your anger. Allow Him to use your life to serve others. Your shame doesn't define you. Your rejection doesn't determine your worth. And your broken places can become part of a beautiful story of redemption. Bently Hornak – A Glimpse of Heaven and a Lifetime of Faith

Sometimes God gives us an experience so powerful that it changes the way we see life, death, and eternity forever. In this deeply moving conversation on Road to Redemption, John Martin sits down with Bently Hornak to share her extraordinary testimony of surviving serious childhood heart complications, encountering what she describes as the presence of angels, and discovering a faith that has carried her through a lifetime of trials. Bently was born in 1969 with numerous congenital heart defects. Growing up in Southern California, she faced serious health challenges from the very beginning. At just three years old, she underwent her first open-heart surgery. Four years later, on her seventh birthday, she underwent another major heart operation. After the surgery, complications developed. As doctors rushed Bently back into the operating room because of bleeding, something happened that she has never forgotten. Bently describes opening her eyes and seeing what she understood to be the spiritual realm. She saw angels filling the room. She remembers experiencing overwhelming peace and realizing that the angels had not suddenly appeared because she was in danger—instead, she felt as though they had already been there and she was simply able to see them for the first time. Then, Bently recalls being lifted by the wing of an angel and beginning to leave the operating room. There was no fear. There was no pain. Instead, she experienced a profound sense of wholeness, joy, and the feeling that she was going home. She could see her physical body below and understood it as the broken earthly body she was leaving behind. But suddenly, everything changed. Bently describes feeling pulled back into her body and hearing the medical team announce that she was coming around. She woke up in the ICU looking for the angels. Years later, her parents revealed just how serious the situation had been. Doctors had prepared them for the possibility that their daughter was dying. For Bently, however, what happened that day never felt like a dream. She says the memory has never faded. That glimpse of eternity became an anchor throughout her life, helping her face additional surgeries, uncertainty, and difficult seasons with the assurance that this earthly life is not the end. As Bently grew older, she also had to learn how to understand what she had experienced. As a teenager, she sometimes took unnecessary physical risks because she associated danger with encountering the presence of angels again. With maturity, she began to understand that she did not need another crisis to experience God. God was already near. That realization became an important part of her message to others. You don't need a near-death experience to encounter Jesus. You don't need to reach the darkest moment of your life before calling on Him. And you don't need to have someone else's dramatic testimony for your relationship with God to be real. Bently reminds listeners that Jesus meets each person personally, wherever they are. Her story encourages us to: Invite Jesus into every part of our lives.Trust God even when we cannot see what He is doing.Stay grounded in God's Word.Find a Christ-centered, Bible-believing church.Build relationships with people who encourage faith and accountability.Remember that trials do not mean God has abandoned us.Live with the hope that our lives extend beyond what we can see today.Bently's testimony is ultimately a story about hope. The seven-year-old girl who once struggled with a broken heart grew into a woman whose experience gave her a powerful confidence in God's presence, His goodness, and the promise of eternity. As she shares with those who may still be searching, Jesus is personal. He can meet you wherever you are, and you don't have to wait for a crisis to begin a relationship with Him. Your circumstances may be difficult. Your future may feel uncertain. But you are not walking through it alone. What would change in your life today if you truly believed that God is closer than you realize?
