History. Rated R.

Let's be honest. History is full of f*cked up sh*t. But what are we gonna do, pretend like it never happened? Have a drink with your host, actor and writer Will Sterling, and his more qualified former Presidential Speechwriting co-host, Dr. Craig Smith. They unpack the silly, salacious, scandalous, and serious stuff in history. If we don't learn from the past, we're doomed to repeat it. So let's at least try to do it with honesty and, wherever possible, a laugh.
Obsessed!

I found this podcast through a commercial and I’ve been binge listening ever since! I love you guys. I’m a massive history nerd and I think it’s amazing the way you present history. I want to enjoy a martini and talk history with you 😂 don’t stop!
New favorite!

What a delightful way to learn more about history - fantastic listening and learn something every episode. Appreciate the spread of topics covered.
Third rate joke.

For guys who tell third rate jokes, you would know. Didn’t hear your comment, but my skin is rather thick. And no…as of when you first mentioned my comment…yoi did not have it…you were close…but no cigar! My nicknames for folks are more clever than you think. As my name for him conveys who he is, and what his minions are…terrorists.

5 stars! Craig and Will have hysterical conversations and Craig shares fun-fact tidbits along the way, noting historical events and / or people that inspired or caused something that still impacts or exists in our world today. The Kennedy episodes were what first got me hooked early this summer. (Joseph Kennedy was, in fact, the worst - and I have read Mr. S now, Will!) Their banter is fun, and Craig's kind and compassionate (yet sometimes biting and snarky) handling of Will's commentary is adorable and you can tell they are good friends. Thank you for making the PHAP-usy / PAPE-usy episodes per my nerdy request. I am a high school art history teacher and I learn many teaching tools from Craig when he responds to Will's skepticism / cynicism when religion is discussed - something I often have to manage with my own students. (How did a dove get into the building???!)
Great podcast

I love the relationship between the hosts. Craig brings the knowledge but Will brings the charisma. Fun podcast! Enjoy
I will give one more

The first 20 minutes of this podcast is chewing the fat (off topic chit chat). The rest is like trying to take a history class with teachers with ADD. They go off topic every 60 seconds. It may be for some, but I find it so distracting. I’ll try one more episode but man was this first one hard to get through.
Entertaining and informative

Great to hear from my former Professor at SDSU. Enjoyed and respected him as my professor (and debate coach) and now enjoy this podcast.
I look forward to martini time

This perfect duo makes me long to find them posted at the bar at a happy hour in Palm Springs. Craig holding court regaling stories of history past peppered with giggles, winks, and bits of tea he would never share on an open mic. They come more frequently as he finishes his second martini. Skipping from his lips like tiny mischievous elves and setting him up for a punch line like no other, carrying us merrily along like the Kenny G of podcasts. Will, with his full voice and deep laughs, eggs Craig on and ensures the cocktails are top-notch. Hiding his vast knowledge until he puts forth a randy quip under his breath, raucous impersonation, or drops a joyous F-bomb. He is edging each of us like the Peter North of podcasts. Alas, until that day, I get to spend a joyous hour or so with them weekly through this podcast. I only wish I could wait till the end of the day on Friday to enjoy a martini with them while listening.
My new happy place

Love you guys-look forward to your podcast every week since the beginning. I loved the good Earth - saw it as a PeaceCore Volunteer first at a theater in my village in Korea in 1967. Used the locust scenes in my science class for years so remember Louise Rainer winning the Academy Award: Best Actress for “The Good Earth” [1937]. She lived two weeks shy of her 105th birthday.
