A Biological and Adopted Family: A Mom's Dream Come True

“Adoption was never a last resort for me. I always wanted one biological child and one adopted child.” In this episode, host Victoria Lauture-Duncker interviews Daisha Enos, a 44-year-old wellness and health coach, about her journey to motherhood at 40. She discusses the comments and questions she received from family members and friends about her decision to have children later in life. While she always believed that she’d be a mother, of two - one biological child and one adopted child, she never dreamed of getting married.  After meeting her now husband Aron, she knew she had found the icing on the cake!  Daisha and Aron, mutually agreed to spend the first few years of married life together and wait to start their family. She credits him for being supportive early of her wishes for their family dynamic.  The story behind their adoption process is a MUST LISTEN.  It is truly a testament in that when something is meant for you, it is meant for YOU!  My biggest takeaway from my chat with Daisha? Being specific about what you want and going after it can lead to incredible outcomes. Also, that it’s important to have a positive mindset and be open to learning from setbacks and challenges. Incredible! #adoption #advancedmaternalage #blackmoms #wellness #manifestation For more information about Daisha Enos Website: www.daishaenos.com Instagram & Facebook: @daishaenos For more information about Victoria Lauture Duncker & New Mommy at 40 Podcast: Website: www.newmommyat40.com Instagram, Facebook and TikTok: @newmommyat40 Email: info@newmommyat40.com

The Need for Open Conversations about Postpartum

In this episode, host Victoria Lauture Duncker interviews her guest Tanji Garcia about her journey to motherhood at the age of 40. They discuss the pressure and expectations of having kids in their 20s and how it influenced their relationships. Tanji opens up about the challenges of infertility and the emotional journey of fertility treatments. They touch on topics such as the first night with a newborn, struggles with breastfeeding, and the recognition and healing of postpartum depression and the impact of social media on the perception of motherhood. Overall, they encourage open conversations about postpartum experiences and the need for self-compassion and understanding. Takeaways The pressure and expectations of having children in your 20s can influence relationship decisions and create feelings of disappointment. Personal challenges and experiences shape our expectations of marriage and family life. Infertility and fertility treatments can be emotionally challenging, but they can also lead to the joy of having a baby. Age should not define our ability to be good parents or experience the joys of motherhood. Motherhood is challenging and requires support and self-care. Breastfeeding struggles are common, and it's important to seek help and not feel guilty. Postpartum depression is a real and valid experience that should be recognized and addressed. Balancing motherhood and personal identity is a journey that requires self-reflection and self-compassion. Social media can create unrealistic expectations and it's important to prioritize mental health over comparison.
