I'm joined by Mike Lisac (my brother from another mother) as my co-host.

In part one...we get into Kris's unique, innovative and enigmatic whiskey and talk about The Bakersfield Sound.

This was a lot of fun and sets up really well for part two!

Bourbon Turntable - Jerry Dalton "The Way of Bourbon" (2024-04-17)

Bourbon Turntable - Jerry Dalton "The Way of Bourbon" (2024-04-17)

I am joined by Jerry Dalton this week.  Jerry is the only non-Beam family member to be Master Distiller at Jim Beam.  He is also a new member of the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.

Jerry and I discuss his new book, "The Way of Bourbon".  We talk about the spirituality, the science and the process of distillation.  Jerry also shares some of the humorous stories from his book about Bourbon "experts", the cow pasture commodities and the legendary Booker Noe.

Here is a link to Jerry's book. It truly has something for everyone who is a Bourbon fan.  Please order it and share this with your friends.

Bourbon Turntable - Beth Burrows of Jim Beam Distilling (2024-04-10)

Bourbon Turntable - Beth Burrows of Jim Beam Distilling (2024-04-10)

As Etta James sang: "At last..."

This episode with Beth Burrows, Senior American Whiskey Ambassador for James B. Beam Distilling Co., is ready to go.  We had to wait because we discussed some Beam news that Corporate wasn't quite ready to let out yet.

I know you'll enjoy hearing about the new A. Overholt Rye and the age statement returning to Jim Beam Black.   But, there's a lot more going on here:  From Beth's journey into the whiskey world to her inspiring transparency on personal image issues to her deep passion for music.

Oh yeah...I also take Beth on a blind tasting of Jim Beam products that was a  lot of fun, too.

Bourbon Turntable: Illiterate Light, Part One (2024-03-27)

Bourbon Turntable: Illiterate Light, Part One (2024-03-27)

Jeff Gorman is the vocalist, guitarist and song-writer for the amazing duo, Illiterate Light.  Jeff is also my guest for this week's first of a two-part episode.

"Slow Down Time" is the brand new EP from Illiterate Light.  It is a brilliant piece of music and very much worth your time and attention.

Since Jeff is in Virginia, we taste some whiskey from there: a single malt from Virginia Distillery and Blackback rye from Silverback Distillery.

We also get into Jeff's musical family (his uncle is Steve Gorman, founding member of The Black Crowes), his favorite bands and singers, and influences on his songwriting.  Part of that influence is life experience and learning to live with grief.

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it.  Please support Jeff and Jake Cochran (drummer) by listening to Illiterate Light's music and sharing it with your friends.  Go to https://www.illiteratelight.com/ for all info on music, merch and live shows.
