Proverbs tells us that when the wicked rule, the people groan. Voting for righteous standards is a practical way to protect the vulnerable and love our neighbors. Christians have retreated in fear for too long, acting as if the problems in our culture are too big for us to make a difference. That same paralyzing fear is exactly what Israel faced in 1 Samuel 17. When Goliath stepped onto the battlefield, he wasn't just a tall soldier; he was a terrifying reminder of an old enemy. But where Israel saw an unbeatable giant, David saw a man defying the armies of the living God. We’re breaking down: ✅ Fear Gets Big When God Gets Small: Why Israel was paralyzed by fear, and the danger of measuring yourself against the enemy instead of measuring the enemy against God. 📏 ✅ Confidence in God, Not Self: Why the moral of this story isn't "believe in yourself." David didn't trust his own abilities; he trusted Yahweh Sabaoth, the Commander of heaven's armies. 🛡️ ✅ Faith is Not Passivity: Why trusting that "the battle is the Lord's" doesn't mean sitting under a tree doing nothing. Name the fear, but do not crown it.
