    Rooted & Filled: The Love That Changes Everything

    What does it mean to know a love that’s too big to understand? In this episode, Laura unpacks Ephesians 3:19 phrase by phrase and connects it to what it truly means to be rooted.     Kim Witczak is a globally recognized drug safety advocate, speaker, and former Consumer Representative on the FDA’s Psychopharmacologic Drugs Advisory Committee, where she served three consecutive terms from 2016 to 2025 reviewing psychiatric drugs and safety concerns. After the sudden death of her husband in 2003 from an undisclosed antidepressant side effect, Kim turned personal tragedy into public purpose. Over the past two decades, she has become a leading voice for FDA reform, informed consent, transparency, and patient safety. She played a key role in efforts that led to the FDA adding Black Box suicide warnings to antidepressants for children and young adults in 2004 and 2006. With more than 25 years of experience in advertising and marketing communications, Kim brings a unique lens to how pharmaceutical marketing shapes medicine and public perception. She co organized the international Selling Sickness: People Before Profits conference, convening global experts to challenge the commercialization of medicine and develop solutions for reform. She also serves on multiple patient safety and advocacy boards, including USA Patient Network, Inner Compass Initiative, Conscious Clinician Collective, MISSD (Medication Induced Suicide in Memory of Stewart Dolin), Re Check Investigative Health Journalism, and the Institute for Scientific Freedom. Kim has testified before the U.S. Senate, the FDA, and several state legislatures on drug safety, FDA reform, and informed consent. Her work has been featured in major media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, BBC, CNN, and Consumer Reports, and has been highlighted in national and international documentaries.     Mary Edwards is a content creator in affiliate marketing who has driven over $4 million in sales for health, wellness, and skincare brands in just 15 months. But beyond the numbers, what really lights her up is helping other women especially fellow Gen X women realize it’s never too late to pursue something they’re passionate about. A wife of 24 years and mom of three, Mary brings a relatable, real-life perspective to everything she does, and she’s proof that starting something new at any stage of life can lead to incredible results. It was a pleasure to have Mary on my show. She shared with us how she went from working a full time job to becoming a full time content creator in affiliate marketing. She put herself in the space without any experience and kept showing up daily promoting products that she knew worked, she would add the link and make a few dollars. She made 400 one month and the once she connected with a team, she went to 25,000 the next month and has continued to grow. She treats this as her job, but also is able to have freedom in doing more with her family and life by choosing this path. She quite her 9-5.     Growing up in Northern California, I developed a passion for business at an early age. Truthfully, I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart. In 2008, I was diagnosed with Lupus and became very sick. I was prediabetic, had gestational diabetes, and inflammation was attacking my body. I knew I had to make significant changes to my lifestyle. At the same time, I still wanted to enjoy fun foods with my kids and be part of our family’s Friday pizza night. So I set out to create a healthier alternative and invented a cauliflower pizza crust. That decision sparked a transformational health journey. I was able to come off steroids and Plaquenil, lost 48 pounds, and ultimately felt called to help others on their own wellness journeys. I later became certified as a life and health coach through Martha Beck. In 2015, I began selling my cauliflower pizza crust at our local farmers’ market with my kids. What started as a small family venture quickly grew. In January 2017, the product went viral and Cali’flour Foods was born. Then, in late 2019, I sold the majority of Cali’flour and became one of the top 1% of women business owners to exit a company with an 8-figure deal. After selling the majority of Cali’flour Foods, Amy doubled down on her mission: to help people tap into the body’s innate ability to heal, thrive, and stay well. In 2023, she founded Beyond Medicine (BeMe) and launched what would become the foundation for her next chapter, Soursop Nutrition, alongside a powerhouse team and female-led investment group.
