    Kayla

    During our talk, Kayla shares her story of childhood neglect and constant manipulation by her mother. For years, she felt her trauma in forms of anxiety and mental health struggles, until finally deciding that therapy was now or never. Now into adulthood, she is facing issues with a father who won't treat her respectfully.  She shares, “Things come to a head when you become an adult and become your own person and you stand up to them (parent) for the first time; that’s when they truly show their true colors to you when you no longer are blindly agreeing to everything that they say and do…that’s when you start to realize something is really wrong. “Its (therapy) just amazing the amount of grace and love I’ve been able to give myself. Everyone go to therapy, even if you don’t think you have issues. You’ll learn something.”

    EPSIODE 1: Meet the host

    Get to know me, Ali, your podcast host and why I created this podcast. Sharing my childhood trauma, growing up too fast, and being my own parent. During, I discuss my grandma filing to become my legal guardian and how going no contact with my parents has benefited me.  I go over some heavy topics, but they are ones that need discussed, especially by those that far too often shy away from it all. Future episodes will be interviews with others who have struggled with being the parent in their relationship with their parents.  TW: Discussions about drug abuse and addiction, gun violence, and death.
