    Who Told You That?

    There will always be competing narratives over your life. God says one thing, while your circumstances say another. Your past has a story. Fear has a story. Other people may have an opinion about what is possible for you. And somewhere in the middle of all that noise, you have to decide which voice gets to shape what you believe. In Numbers 13, Caleb stood in the middle of a people overwhelmed by what they could see and silenced the narrative that contradicted what God had already said. The giants were real, but so was the promise.     You Don't Have to Borrow Someone Else's Oil

    God never intended for you to experience Him through someone else's relationship with Him. In Exodus 33, the Israelites stood at the doors of their tents watching the presence of God descend upon Moses. They could see the cloud. They could witness the encounter. But Moses stepped inside and spoke with God face to face, as a man speaks with a friend. Through Jesus, that same invitation has been extended to us.     Can You Hear the Rain?

    What do you do when you know God has spoken, but nothing around you looks like what He said? In 1 Kings 18, Elijah heard the sound of an abundance of rain while the land was still in drought. There was no storm on the horizon and no natural evidence that anything was changing. But Elijah heard something in the Spirit, and what he heard gave him the tenacity to pray until what God had revealed became visible. In this episode of Teach and Talk, Lisa Schwarz explores the connection between supernatural senses, intercessory prayer, and perseverance. God is always speaking, but learning to recognize His voice requires us to cultivate our spiritual senses and quiet the natural noise competing for our attention. And hearing is only the beginning.
