The Power of Choice Words: Patty McGee on Feedback that Helps Students Grow

In this episode of The Chronicles of Mister, I sit down with literacy expert Patty McGee for a thoughtful conversation on why writing matters in every classroom, including STEM. Together, we explore the power of strength-based feedback, the importance of helping students discover their writing identity, and how “thinking with ink” can deepen critical thinking and student voice. Patty also shares practical insights for supporting reluctant writers and offers valuable resources for educators who want to help students grow with confidence. Listen, reflect, and share with a fellow educator. Recorded and supported by Dubby & Riverside: Use this link if you would like to try them out and help me out at the same time.

The Real Goal of Discipline Is Growth, Not Control

Hey There, In this episode of The Chronicles of Mister, Mr. Pierre sits down with Nicholas Bradford to unpack a powerful question: What if discipline was not just about punishment, but about growth, accountability, and repair? Together, they explore how restorative justice can move schools, families, and communities away from purely punitive responses and toward something more human and more effective. Nicholas shares how accountability and relationship-building must work together, why many conflicts are not actually about us, and how slowing down in tense moments can create space for reflection, responsibility, and real change. This conversation is for educators, parents, leaders, and anyone trying to handle conflict with more wisdom and less reactivity. From suspension and reentry to self-advocacy, parenting, and mindset, this episode offers practical insight for anyone who wants to build healthier relationships and stronger communities. If you have ever wondered how to correct behavior without losing connection, this episode is for you.

    The Power of Community

Hey There Everyone, It's been a rough start to the academic year. I've been under the weather and trying my best to stay consistent with posting content and being fully present with my students. In this week's conversation, I chat with Kwame Terra, the Founder and CEO of bHER Health. We discuss the mission and vision of bHER Health, a platform aimed at improving health outcomes in the Black community. We explore the importance of health awareness, building trust within the community, and innovative approaches to health education. Kwame shares insights on creating a supportive health environment, setting personal health goals, and the role of community engagement in achieving better health outcomes. The discussion also touches on the significance of normalizing mental health care and the need for a collective effort to promote wellness. I know that OCotber is usually the month the first wave of illness, fromthe flu to the cold bug that hit our students and eventually us educators so the gems of this conversation could not have arrived at a more appropriate time. Let me know what you think of the conversation. What resonated with you? How are you taking care of yourselves? What's you go to for ensuring that you stay well? As always appreciate you being a part of the community.
