    113. Overcoming Religious Shame, Healing From Church Hurt, and Finding Your Way Back to Jesus

Ever been told to obey first and feel later? I grew up equating faith with performance, penance, and shame—and it kept me far from the church. Today we get honest about church hurt, the weight it puts on our hearts, and the quiet ways it can block a real relationship with Jesus. This is a story about moving from condemnation to conviction, from checking boxes to living in grace, and from isolation to a community that actually helps you heal. We revisit a striking childhood memory of face-to-face confession and the pressure to produce the “right” sins, then contrast that with what Scripture shows: a God who seeks us, leaves the ninety-nine for the one, and calls us into a personal relationship. We explore repentance as a heart posture, not a transaction; the gentle, persistent work of the Holy Spirit in sanctification; and how inner transformation naturally reshapes habits—like my slow shift away from drinking—not from fear, but from desire to draw closer to God. Along the way, we name the difference between legalism and love, offer practical first steps for those wary of returning to church, and share what a healthy, Bible-centered community looks like: honest, humble, and grounded in grace and truth. If past experiences have made you hide, there’s room to breathe here—and a seat at the table with your name on it. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs hope, and leave a review to help others find their way back to freedom. Ready to explore church without shame? Check out Lakepointe Church Online. 112. You Don’t Need All the Answers to Take the First Step (from New Age to Jesus)

Perfection looks impressive online, but it can quietly starve your soul. I share why the chase for “arrival”—in faith, business, and identity—is often pride wearing a halo, and how Scripture reframed my need to look finished. Walking through Exodus, I found courage in Moses’ reluctance and God’s patience with imperfect people who still say yes. That lens changed my rhythm: not a sprint to polish myself, but a steady relationship where Jesus refines me as I go. I open up about the messy middle—sitting with tension around my oracle deck, questions about yoga, and the fear of being judged by both New Age friends and Christian critics. Instead of flipping a public switch from “before” to “after,” I’m documenting the in-between so seekers can watch conviction mature without shame. We talk through sanctification as a lived process, not a performance; how real study (textual history, manuscript evidence, Old–New Testament coherence) can strengthen faith; and why an honest question can be an act of worship when it draws you closer to truth. If you’re Jesus-curious but afraid of what you might lose, take one small step. Pray a simple prayer—Jesus, show me who You are—and see what unfolds. You don’t need every answer to begin. Start with relationship, let clarity come, and watch what falls away when a better love takes its place. If this resonates, share it with a friend who’s wrestling, subscribe for more candid journeys, and leave a review to help others find their first step forward. 111. How A Values-Driven Side Income Kept Me Steady Through A Total Business Rebuild

What if your business could honor your faith, protect your time, and still pay the bills every month? That’s the journey I open up today—walking from a new age‑entangled coaching brand to a values‑aligned income stream that feels steady, clean, and genuinely helpful for families. I unpack the uncomfortable middle: realizing your offers no longer match your convictions, saying goodbye to tools that once defined your work, and facing the fear of losing a community as your beliefs change. Instead of burning everything down, I kept one pillar—an affiliate partnership with a transparent wellness company that treats people right. We talk about low‑cost memberships, wholesale pricing, and products with third‑party test results on every batch. No proprietary blends, no mystery doses, just certified organic formulas that are often cheaper than the questionable stuff online. It’s practical, it’s ethical, and it serves real needs in the home. From there, we zoom out to what freedom really means for moms. I share how recurring commissions create breathing room during life’s disruptions, why service beats hustle for long‑term sustainability, and how mentoring a collaborative team can multiply impact without sacrificing family. You’ll hear real outcomes—single moms consolidating jobs, couples retiring from day work, entrepreneurs funding investments—plus the mindset shift that puts integrity and stewardship ahead of revenue vanity metrics. If you crave time freedom, financial stability, and work that aligns with your faith, this conversation gives you a grounded path forward. 110. I Was Wrong About New Age And Jesus

A year ago, we argued you could chase “Christ consciousness” without embracing a Bible-centered faith—and we treated religion like a control system. After a season of prayer, study, and honest self-audit, we’re back to share what changed and why the shift brought more peace, not less. This is a candid walk-through of moving from self-optimization to surrender, from theories about ascension to a relationship with a living Savior. We open with the rebrand that led us to revisit an older episode, then unpack the core difference between making Jesus a model for perfection and trusting Jesus as the one who saves imperfect people. Grace changes the economy: instead of endless pressure to heal, manifest, and measure up, we talk about the relief of Romans 3:23 and the freedom of not being our own redeemers. We explore obedience as alignment rather than oppression, describing how a heart-level change quietly shifts habits—interests fade, compulsions loosen, and daily choices get lighter without shame or scorekeeping. We also get practical and nerdy. Curious about canon formation and the gospel of Mary Magdalene? We trace why fragmentary, late, sparsely attested texts didn’t make it into the Bible, and how rigorous criteria aimed for coherence with apostolic witness. On the “you can find a verse for anything” claim, we show how context stabilizes meaning and how God’s character remains consistent across scripture—compassion with responsibility, mercy with moral clarity. The throughline is simple: less conspiracy, more consistency; less performance, more presence. If you’re deconstructing, reconstructing, or just tired of spiritual hustle, this conversation offers a grounded alternative: joyful obedience, a steadier hope, and a faith that holds when your perfection doesn’t. Listen, share with a friend who’s wrestling with similar questions, and if it resonates, subscribe and leave a review to help others find the show. 109. I Left New Age & Found Jesus: My Story & Update

A song in the kitchen broke everything open. One moment I was planning an oracle deck launch; the next, I was sobbing to an old worship chorus and realizing the “peace” I’d been manufacturing wasn’t the real thing. This episode is a candid walk through my rebrand to Counterculture Mama and the turn from new age practices to a faith-led life that reshaped my marriage, business, and sense of self. I share what drew me into Reiki, tarot, kundalini, and the Akashic Records—and why the promise of infinite self-optimization eventually felt like a burden I couldn’t set down. Then we get practical about what changed when I started treating the Bible as protection rather than control. The first test was at home: embracing biblical submission not as erasure, but as trust in my husband’s leadership. The shift was immediate—less friction, more unity—and it forced me to re-examine the stories I told about power, freedom, and truth. We also talk about living in the messy middle: too Christian for my spiritual friends, too “woo-adjacent” for some believers. I’m choosing to be a bridge. That means honest conversations about running a business without bending to performative virtue signaling, parenting with conviction in a culture that pulls families apart, and creating a home that prizes order, responsibility, and joy. I’ll still release my oracle deck while building a free devotional that aligns each card with Scripture, corrects what doesn’t hold up, and guides anyone curious about the path I’ve taken. If you’re hungry for real peace, skeptical of empty platitudes, and ready to lead with values that stand up under pressure, you’re in the right place. Subscribe, share this episode with a friend who’s straddling two worlds, and leave a review with your biggest question—I’ll tackle it in a future show. 108. When Being Too Self-Aware Becomes Self-Abandonment: Finding Balance in Relationships

Have you ever found yourself so busy analyzing your own patterns and emotional responses that you've forgotten to actually ask for what you need? That's what I call "the curse of the self-aware woman" – and it might be silently eroding your relationships. While self-awareness is undeniably valuable, there's a dangerous tipping point where accountability becomes self-abandonment. Many women pride themselves on doing their inner work, understanding their triggers, and taking responsibility for their emotional responses. Yet this same awareness can become a trap when it convinces you to shoulder the entire burden of relationship dynamics. You start dismissing your legitimate needs as "just your abandonment wound talking" or "your trauma being triggered," rather than honoring them as valid desires deserving expression. This episode explores the delicate balance between owning your patterns and advocating for yourself. I share practical examples of how to communicate needs without falling into mothering energy (like the shelf-building scenario that transforms demanding into expressing desire), and why vulnerability – not control – is the pathway to healthier relationships. Whether you're struggling with romantic partnerships, friendships, or family dynamics, you'll discover how to maintain your self-awareness without sacrificing your right to feel supported. Ready to break free from the self-awareness curse? This conversation might just change how you approach every relationship in your life. 107. Your Impact Doesn't Require a Transaction

Have you ever noticed how we entrepreneurs can become completely tunnel-visioned, believing our impact comes exclusively through our businesses? That revelation hit me hard this weekend, and it's completely transforming how I show up in the world. For years, I operated under the assumption that my business was my legacy—that to make a meaningful impact, people needed to join my programs, download my resources, or become paying clients. While my heart has always been in the right place (as I know yours is too), I've realized this mindset creates what I now call "conditional leadership"—only offering value when expecting something in return. This mindset shift feels incredibly liberating. Instead of measuring impact by business metrics, I'm focusing on how I show up in every interaction—from the person I pass in the grocery store to community members in Facebook groups. I'm creating spaces driven by genuine connection rather than conversion. I'm recognizing that my impact doesn't require a transaction, and my leadership doesn't need to be conditional. This isn't about abandoning business goals or devaluing what we offer professionally. I still believe deeply in the transformation my programs provide. Rather, it's about expanding our definition of impact beyond business boundaries and removing the paywalls to purpose. It's about filling our days with activities that bring genuine joy and alignment, trusting that the good we put out returns to us in abundance. How might your approach to business and life change if you focused less on strategic moves and more on this simple question: "How do I want to be remembered by everyone I encounter today?" Join me in making impact everywhere, not just with those who pay us. What would feel liberating to you in this season of your business journey? 106. WHY You're Not Seeing the Results You Want (And What You're Subconsciously Manifesting Instead)

Transforming your reality begins with a deceptively simple shift: being intentional about where you source your information and advice.  We often default to whatever resources are most readily available – Facebook groups, friends, or family – without questioning if these sources actually align with our desires. This creates a self-reinforcing cycle where limiting beliefs get strengthened rather than challenged. Consider what happens when a woman seeking a natural birth asks about pain in a conventional forum. She's immediately flooded with "I wanted that too, but..." stories that reshape her expectations before she's had her own experience. The anticipation itself creates tension, which intensifies pain – exactly like bracing before an elastic band snap hurts more than a surprise snap. The solution isn't positive thinking or denial – it's strategic resourcing. Want a blissful birth? Seek women who've had one. Dream of financial freedom? Connect with people who've achieved it. Desire a balanced business? Find entrepreneurs who've built success without burnout. These encounters create what I call "the crack of possibility" – that moment when your mind opens to "What if it doesn't have to be this way?" This approach transformed my own birth experience. By researching physiological birth and listening to women with positive stories, I created space for my own blissful experience. During labor, instead of anticipating increasing pain, I wondered, "What if it doesn't get more intense?" That question allowed my body to soften rather than tense. Ready to transform your reality? Start by examining your information sources. Are they reinforcing limitations or expanding possibilities? The quality of your questions determines the quality of your life. What will you ask today?
