    Episode 220: Burnt Offerings (1976)

    This week, Josh and Drusilla watched the very cozy Burnt Offerings. From wiki: “Burnt Offerings (Italian: Ballata macabra, lit. 'Macabre ballad') is a 1976 supernatural horror film co-written and directed by Dan Curtis and starring Karen Black, Oliver Reed, Bette Davis, and Lee H. Montgomery, with Eileen Heckart, Burgess Meredith and Anthony James in supporting roles. It is based on the 1973 novel by Robert Marasco.[7] The plot follows a family which begins to interpersonally dissolve under supernatural forces in a large estate they have rented for the summer.     For Memorial Day, Josh and Drusilla discuss David Lynch’s 2001 masterpiece, Mulholland Drive. From wiki: “Mulholland Drive[b] is a 2001 mystery film written and directed by David Lynch. Its narrative is characterized by surrealist and neo-noir elements, and follows an aspiring actress (Naomi Watts) newly arrived in Los Angeles, where she befriends a car crash victim (Laura Harring) who is suffering from amnesia.     Drusilla and Josh discuss Osgood Perkins’ new cult classic, Longlegs. From wiki: “Longlegs is a 2024 American mystery horror film written and directed by Osgood Perkins. The film stars Maika Monroe, Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, and Nicolas Cage. Set in the 1990s, the story follows a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent assigned to hunt down an occult-obsessed serial killer responsible for a string of family murders across Oregon. From wiki: “Angel's Egg (Japanese: 天使のたまご, Hepburn: Tenshi no Tamago) is a Japanese animated experimental post-apocalyptic science fantasy OVA film written and directed by Mamoru Oshii.[2] Released by Tokuma Shoten on 15 December 1985,[3] the film was a collaboration between artist Yoshitaka Amano and Oshii. From wiki: “Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (Italian: Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma), billed on-screen as Pasolini's 120 Days of Sodom on English-language prints[5] and commonly referred to as simply Salò (Italian: [saˈlɔ]), is a 1975 political art horror film directed and co-written by Pier Paolo Pasolini. The film is a loose adaptation of the 1785 novel (first published in 1904) The 120 Days of Sodom by the Marquis de Sade, updating the story's setting to the World War II era. Alexandra has written the book on film footage (literally) and thus brings the show the big mama jama of the sub genre: The Blair Witch Project. From wiki: “The Blair Witch Project is a 1999 American found footage psychological folk horror film written, directed, and edited by Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez. One of the most successful independent films of all time, it is a "found footage" pseudo-documentary in which three young students (Heather Donahue, Michael C.
