THEOTIVITY | Theology, Creativity & Culture

Thaddeus Maharaj

THEOTIVITY is a podcast where theology and creativity come together. Many Christians and creatives today are ill-equipped to deal with the challenges of increasingly secular culture. Yet creatives tend to be the influencers and creators of culture's icons that shape our societies. We need a robust and biblical understanding of theology so that we can apply it to today's issues. On this podcast, you'll find audio narrations of articles, interviews with Christian thinkers and creatives, and commentary on how the Biblical world-and-life view impacts every area of life.

082 | Reforming Worship to Transform Culture (ft. Doug Wilson)

Many churches underestimate the impact their worship could have on culture. Yet it is a vitally important conversation if we are to truly be salt and light in the world as faithful covenant communities. Henry VanTil famously said that culture is religion externalized. Thus, how we worship will inevitably affect the type of culture we produce. In this episode, we sit down with Doug Wilson to discuss covenant renewal worship and how churches should consider their worship practices, as well as their impact on the type of culture they cultivate within the church and beyond. Douglas Wilson is the longtime pastor of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho, a Reformed theologian, author, and leading voice in classical Christian education and cultural engagement. He is the founder of Logos School, a key figure behind New Saint Andrews College, and a co-founder of the Association of Classical Christian Schools, helping to shape the modern classical Christian education movement. A prolific writer and public thinker, Wilson has authored numerous books on theology, education, family, and culture, and is known for his forthright defence of historic Christian orthodoxy in the public square. 😁 If you got value from this video, please don't forget to LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! ----------------- ℹ️ For more info on THEOTIVITY, please visit: https://www.theotivity.com/ 💰 Donate:https://www.givesendgo.com/theotivity ➡️ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theotivity ➡️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theotivity/ ➡️ Twitter: https://twitter.com/theotivity

  2. 081 | Eschatology Matters: An Intro to Views of the End Times and Why It Matters

081 | Eschatology Matters: An Intro to Views of the End Times and Why It Matters

Eschatology (the study of last things) is an area of theology that is often considered highly controversial, debatable and divisive. However, what we believe about the End Times affects our times and the way we live today in significant ways, which are often overlooked. Many people can indeed be adamantly and even aggressively committed to their particular understanding of the unfolding of history and the consummation of all things. Some end-times zealots are even willing to call others heretics for differing with their particular view. On the other hand, a lot of Christians in the Evangelical church today consider eschatology an unimportant part of their doctrine, categorizing it as a secondary or tertiary issue. “We just need to all agree that Christ is coming back” can be a polite dismissive way of turning the topic to something else when it comes up. This can be driven by fear, ignorance or apathy. Some feel like it is a topic that they can never hope to understand (after all, if all of these PhDs can’t figure it out – how can a layperson hope to do so?). As a result, many Christians and churches today decide (either explicitly or implicitly) to avoid healthy debate and discussion concerning the topic altogether. Many others simply adopt the tradition they have inherited through their church or favourite set of Bible teachers without critically analyzing it. However, while it is true that one’s eschatology should not divide us in terms of one’s status of salvation and fellowship within a local congregation, it is important to many aspects of daily Christian life and faith. Eschatology is not of primary importance, but it is not unimportant. 📰 Read the written article here: https://theotivity.com/post/eschatology-matters/ 😁 If you got value from this video, please don't forget to LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! ----------------- ℹ️ For more info on THEOTIVITY, please visit: https://www.theotivity.com/ 💰 Donate:https://www.givesendgo.com/theotivity ➡️ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theotivity ➡️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theotivity/ ➡️ Twitter: https://twitter.com/theotivity

080 | Make The Commission Great Again | Matthew 28:16-20

We greatly underestimate the greatness of the Great Commission. It feels like we’ve lost ground, and Christians face many trials in our present culture. It’s no wonder so many Christians feel defeated these days – as if things are destined to only get worse and worse without any hope of success of the Gospel in the broader culture. Practically speaking, this has left many Christians discouraged about the prospects of winning the culture and seeing the success of the Gospel in their nation. For many, the mission of the Church to disciple the nations has faded to a lacklustre image of its former glory… Kenneth Gentry notes, “There is dangerous atrophy in the Body of Christ (the Church) due to chronic retreatism and the more recent onset of acute superficiality. And the recovery of the true strength of the family, the Church, and the State will take both effort and time. Fortunately, the Great Commission, when properly understood, provides us with the strength needed for the effort (“I am with you,” promises the One with “all authority”) and the time necessary to the task (“even to the end of the age”).” (Kenneth Gentry, The Greatness of the Great Commission, p. 160) Make no mistakes about it – we are in a war. The Christian life is spiritual warfare. He’s given us what we need to mount the offensive to push back the powers of darkness… but we need courage. When we rightly understand our King’s marching orders to us – the Great Commission, it fills us with God-given boldness and courage to face the battle ahead of us. 📰 Read the written article here: https://theotivity.com/post/make-the-commission-great-again-matthew-2816-20/ #greatcommission #gospel #ChristianMission 😁 If you got value from this video, please don't forget to LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE! ----------------- ℹ️ For more info on THEOTIVITY, please visit: https://www.theotivity.com/ 💰 Donate:https://www.givesendgo.com/theotivity ➡️ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theotivity ➡️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theotivity/ ➡️ Twitter: https://twitter.com/theotivity

076 | Why start Niagara Classical Academy? (ft. Ryan Eras)

Ryan Eras, headmaster of Niagara Classical Academy sits down to talk with us about why they're starting a Classical Christian Academy in the Niagara region, what it's about and why it's important. A classical and Christian education is a method of teaching and of seeing the world. It has its origins in the classical, Greco-Roman era of history. It is a very time-tested method of education to train people to become self-governing citizens. It is interested in what makes something good, true, and beautiful, or what keeps it from being those things. A classical Christian education is a deliberate work of forming the soul of the student. The academics are rigorous, but our emphasis is on modelling and cultivating virtue rather than academics because unless virtue is being practiced, academics cannot follow. ▶️ UP NEXT: Public School vs Christian Education ✅ Niagara Classical Academy: https://niagaraclassical.com/ ✅ Follow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/niagaraclassical/ ✅ Check out upcoming events: https://niagaraclassical.com/about/events/ *RESOURCES* 📘 Classical Education and the Homeschool - https://amzn.to/4c2Rc4W 📘 Wisdom and Eloquence: A Christian Paradigm for Classical Learning - https://amzn.to/4aX0Uoi 📘 An Introduction to Classical Education - https://amzn.to/4bWkthZ 📘 Shaping Hearts and Minds: A Case For Classical Christian Education - https://amzn.to/4c7fPxa ----------------- ℹ️ https://www.theotivity.com/ 📩 Newsletter: https://theotivity.com/newsletter/ 💰 Donate: https://www.givesendgo.com/theotivity ➡️ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theotivity ➡️ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theotivity/ ➡️ Twitter: https://twitter.com/theotivity
