    243. What Alex, a professional opera singer, discovered about her strength, confidence, and capabilities working with Monika in BBM over the last year

What can a professional opera singer discover about herself through strength training, and how can it affect her career, confidence, and everyday life? My client Alex is a professional opera singer who has performed in different venues and is currently performing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Since joining BBM, she’s experienced changes in her posture, singing voice, confidence during auditions, and the way she feels about herself. In this episode, Alex and I talk about: • How building physical strength has improved her posture, singing, and confidence as a performer. • What it’s like to work with me in BBM, why she looks forward to our workouts, and how my coaching approach encourages her to challenge herself. • How she stays consistent with live Zoom workouts while traveling for performances. • How strength training has influenced her nutrition, including what she chooses to eat while traveling. • Why core strength matters for opera singers and how we train her entire body without endless crunches. • How becoming physically stronger has changed what she believes she’s capable of accomplishing in other areas of her life. One of my favorite things Alex shared about working with me is that you don’t have to be a hardcore gym person or know everything about lifting weights to get started. She talks about how I meet her where she is, recognize what she’s capable of, and make her WANT to show up, stay consistent, and challenge herself. And as Alex puts it, you start wanting to build yourself and your life into something stronger and more solid. 242. How to get clients and price your classes when you open a new fitness studio

One of my BBM clients recently opened her own yoga and Pilates studio and sent me a bunch of questions about pricing, getting clients, and marketing her business. I thought these were excellent questions to answer on the podcast because so many new business owners deal with the same things, regardless of what services they offer. I owned my own fitness studio from 2017 to 2020 before taking my business fully online, so I have plenty of experience with this. In this episode, I’m sharing what I would tell her during a private business mentorship session, including how to price your services, how to get more people into your classes, and how to use social media to bring in customers. Here’s what I cover: • Why you should calculate your pricing based on your own expenses, business goals, and what you want to earn instead of copying what other studios charge. • How to use the 30 minutes after each class to record at least three pieces of content for social media. • Why your content should focus on what your potential customers want to know instead of what you did that day. • Why offering too many classes can work against you and how removing a Friday morning class helped me fill my other classes. • How to use local events, Halloween activities, Christmas markets, and other opportunities to meet potential customers in person. • Why I recommend creating and posting your own content before spending time consuming everyone else’s. Whether you’re opening a fitness studio or running another service-based business, you’ll find plenty of advice you can start using right away. And if you want my help with your business, book a complimentary Coffee & Goals consultation so we can talk about what you’re working on and how I can help you. monikaamazur.as.me/CoffeeandGoals

    241. Annie trained for years. Then five months of BBM from home changed her body in ways gyms, classes and trainers never did.

Annie was already very active before BBM. She teaches hot yoga, had worked with different trainers, belonged to multiple gyms and regularly took fitness classes. What surprised her was how much changed once she started training with me from home. Within five months, she saw her glutes develop, her body reshape and a chronic knee issue she had protected for years stop bothering her. She also almost completely stopped going to the gym because BBM was more convenient and gave her more from her workouts. One thing she especially noticed was the sequencing of the exercises. The workouts are not random. Each movement has a purpose, and she can feel how one prepares her body for the next. As a yoga instructor, she also didn’t expect lifting weights to give her the same mental benefit she gets from yoga. Slowing down, focusing on where she should feel an exercise and staying connected to the movement gives her that same mental reset, and she has noticed the control carrying back into her yoga practice too. We talk about: • Why years of gyms, trainers and classes still weren’t giving her the body changes she wanted • Why she almost stopped going to the gym after starting BBM from home • How quickly her glutes and overall shape changed • Why exercise sequencing matters • How learning to feel an exercise in her glute instead of her knee changed movements she had avoided • Why slower strength training gives her some of the same mental benefits as yoga • What eating looks like when you are naturally lean and trying to build muscle If you already work out, take classes, belong to a gym or have worked with trainers but still feel like your body should look different for the amount of effort you’re putting in, this episode is for you. 240. Samantha went from cardio bunny to 3+ years of consistent strength training from her living room while working crazy hours from home

Samantha works crazy hours from home, often across multiple time zones, and travels for work. She was never a gym person and before BBM, most of her exercise came from Peloton and cardio. What changed was finding a way to strength train that actually fit her life. For more than three years, Samantha has trained consistently with me from her living room. No commute to the gym. No wasting time getting there and back. No forcing herself into an environment she never liked in the first place. She can finish a call, grab her weights, and train from home. That convenience is a huge part of why she has been able to stay consistent for so long, even with long workdays and travel. Strength training is now part of her bigger approach to health. She eats well, works with health professionals, and sees lifting as part of her long-term plan for badass aging. She is not doing this because she suddenly became a gym person. She found a way to make strength training work inside the life she already has. We talk about going from cardio to lifting, building consistency while working crazy hours, why training from home made strength training realistic for her, how she keeps it going when she travels, and why getting stronger has become part of how she wants to age. If you work from home, have a demanding schedule, or know you need to lift but have zero interest in going to a gym, this episode is for you. 238. Why Jordana left CrossFit after recurring injuries and has stayed consistent with BBM for 3.5 years

Jordana loved CrossFit. She loved the community, she was active, and she liked training hard. But her shoulders kept getting injured. When she moved from Boston to Charlotte, she knew she needed to change the way she trained. She was very right-side dominant, the fast pace and barbell-heavy training wasn’t helping, and she wanted to get stronger without constantly dealing with another setback. A friend introduced her to me, and 3.5 years later, she is still training with BBM. In this episode, Jordana and I talk about what changed when she moved from CrossFit to slower, controlled strength training, why single-arm exercises were so important for correcting the imbalance between her right and left sides, and why strength- rather than weight loss or changing how she looked- was always the goal that kept her interested in training. We also talk about consistency. During the last 3.5 years, Jordana has moved, changed careers, gone from the flexibility of academia back into corporate, and had to adjust when and how she trains. Today, she works out at home before work because that is what fits her life now. The details changed. Training stayed. We talk about: • Why she decided CrossFit was no longer the right way for her to train • The recurring shoulder problems she was dealing with when she joined BBM • How single-arm and -leg training helped address years of right-side dominance • Why slower, controlled lifting made such a difference for her • How she trains consistently now that she is back in corporate • Why getting stronger has always mattered more to her than training for aesthetics • What 3.5 years of consistent strength training looks like when your work, schedule and life continue to change If you keep getting hurt every time you try to get stronger, or your training disappears every time your schedule changes, listen to this episode. 237. What it’s like to have a coach by your side while leaving a 20-year relationship, walking away from a 6-year business, and starting over at 41

Clara first came to me for fitness coaching in 2023. Almost immediately, our work expanded into performance coaching and business mentorship. What started with training quickly became about much more than fitness. For the next two years, I had the privilege of supporting her through one of the biggest transitions of her life. When we first started working together, Clara knew something in her life wasn’t right, but she couldn’t put it into words. She had spent six years living and working on a boat in the Netherlands with the same partner she’d been with for 20 years. From the outside, she had built a beautiful life. On the inside, she knew she had outgrown it. Over the next two years, she made one difficult decision after another. At 41, she left the relationship, walked away from the business, moved into the first apartment ever in her own name, and started building a life that reflected who she had become. Today, she’s also building T-Circles, a community centered around tea, meditation, and meaningful connection. In this episode, we talk about: • Leaving a 20-year relationship without turning the other person into the villain • What performance coaching and business mentorship looked like during one of the biggest transitions of her life • Staying consistent with your health while your life is changing • Building a business that’s aligned with who you are today • Finding your voice after years of putting yourself second • Why starting over at 41 became the best decision she ever made This episode is about more than leaving a relationship. It’s about having the courage to stop living a life that no longer fits and creating one that does. If you’ve been feeling like something in your life is off, but you can’t quite explain it, I think you’ll see yourself in Clara’s story.
