The Pan-African Experience Podcast

The Pan-African Experience Podcast

The Pan-African Experience is a podcast that aims to re-ignite discussions about Pan-Africanism. And the purpose is the plant seeds of unity and inspiration among Africans, both at home and in the diaspora. Our discussions are based on extensive research. I speak to academics to expand on existing/new knowledge, and proffer solutions to internal and external issues faced by Africans/Black people.

Ep. 14 I Racial Discrimination Within Canadian Immigration System I Dr Gideon Christian

Our difficult, but necessary, conversation continues. In today’s episode of The Pan-African Experience I spoke to Dr Gideon Christian about the recently exposed racial discrimination within IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). These damning findings came from a 20-page report, compiled by the public opinion research company Pollara Strategic Insights, and presented to IRCC in June 2021. Dr Gideon is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary, and one of the witnesses in Canadian House of Commons’ hearing on this report. Before joining the Faculty of Law at the University of Calgary, Dr Christian worked part-time as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. He also worked fulltime as a Legal Counsel with the National Litigation Sector at the federal Department of Justice where he conducted electronic discovery in high-profile litigation involving the Government of Canada. His research activities centres on law and technology - specifically on electronic discovery, artificial intelligence and law, and environmental impacts of technology. Gideon’s research work has been published in Canadian Journal of Law and Technology, Utrecht Journal of International and European Law, African Journal of Library, Archives and Information Science, and Canadian Bar Review I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Christian on the podcast. 2. Ep. 11 I Dr Brian S. Hooker, PH.D., P.E. I The Black Community, MMR Vaccine and Autism

Ep. 11 I Dr Brian S. Hooker, PH.D., P.E. I The Black Community, MMR Vaccine and Autism

The full episode of my discussion with Dr Brian Hooker, and (apparently) our most controversial episode till date, is here. Our difficult, but  necessary, conversations on The Pan-African Experience Podcast continues  - following all journalism principles and practices. Eight years after the publication of Dr Brian Hooker, Ph.D., P.E.’s  paper: Measles-mumps-rubella vaccination timing and autism among young  African American boys: a reanalysis of CDC data, and 6 years after the  documentary, Vaxxed, we revisited the claims made by both projects. Dr  Hooker’s research found that if MMR vaccine is administered to African  American children, specifically the boys, they are three times more  likely to develop autism. Dr Hooker’s research was performed with  data he obtained from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC), through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The CDC disputed this research at the time of its publication. In this week’s episode of The Pan-African Experience, I had a discussion with Dr Hooker about this research. The  purpose of this conversation was to find out if Dr Hooker still stands  by his research and whether the CDC has been able to review/re-analyse  their data, to consider the race element, following Dr Hooker’s  research. The Pan-African Experience Podcast contacted  CDC/affiliates twice for a comment with regards to the claims made in  this episode, but they have chosen not to respond. I am grateful and honoured to have Dr Hooker on the podcast.
