El Muerto's Ride - The Texas Headless Horseman

We packed the van with maps and matches, Dust on our boots, pens in our hands. Four young ghosts before the haunting, Chasing dead things across the land. Laredo heat and library whispers, Names in ink and bones in stone. Every road sign pointed southward, Toward a rider with no home. Moon over mesquite, Wind through the wire. Something in the dark, Calling us closer. El Muerto, ride through the night, No face in the moonlight, no end in sight. Hooves like thunder, death in the reins, He comes back bleeding through the plains. El Muerto, we heard your cry, "It is mine, it is all mine." South Texas shadows, open and wide, There is no grave that can hold that ride. Freer gave us restless horses, San Diego gave us screams. Alice filled our sleep with rot and leather, Ben Bolt waited in our dreams. Josefa stood beside the graveyard, Black dress moving in the heat. She said, "Some truths don't need believing; Some truths rise and find your feet." Cold in the thermal, Breath in the black. Something without a head, Still finding its way back. Lantern burning blue in the cemetery, Graves stood up like witnesses. Flies in a storm, teeth in the silence, God, forgive the things we missed. Was it a man or something wearing, All the fear that people fed? Every time his name is spoken, Something wakes among the dead. Don’t look back, Don’t leave the fire, Don’t hear the breathing, Outside the wire. Four came hunting, Five remained. One rode out, And knew our names. El Muerto, ride through the night, Headless and hollow in the dead white light. Hooves like judgment, hide like flame, Call him once and he will come again. El Muerto, we heard your cry, "It is mine, it is all mine." South Texas shadows, open and wide, There is no grave that can hold that ride. We never wrote the book we came for, Never told it straight the same. But when the brush goes still at midnight, I still hear him speak my name.

    One Step at a Time

In the silence of the night, I raise my hands, Questions linger heavy like shifting sands. I seek the road ahead, where my journey's meant to be, But God whispers softly, "Just follow Me." We long for every answer, to see the grand design, To light up the shadows, our hearts start to align. Yet, in the quiet moments, there's a gentle voice that calls, Releasing all my burdens, as I answer to the thralls. One step at a time, that's how we move, Trusting in the plan, for strength we will prove. Though the map is unclear, and the path may bend, I find peace in knowing, my journey won't end. Life's a winding road, with twists and turns, Seeking for the knowledge, while the heart still yearns. But God brings the comfort, teaching me to grow, In obedience, I flourish, that’s the beauty of the flow. I chase after the light, though the future's unknown, The love and grace He offers, to guide me in my own. No need to see the distance, just focus on today, With faith as my compass, I’m never led astray. One step at a time, that's how we move, Trusting in the plan, for strength we will prove. Though the map is unclear, and the path may bend, I find peace in knowing, my journey won't end. Obstacles may come like a stormy sea, But there’s solace in surrender, He carries me. When the answers seem out of reach, I pause and breathe, Finding joy in the journey, in the faith I weave. It's not about the burden or the endless demands, It's about the steps I take, led by gentle hands. One step at a time, that's how we move, Trusting in the plan, for strength we will prove. Though the map is unclear, and the path may bend, I find peace in knowing, my journey won't end. So here I stand, ready to embrace the night, In moments of uncertainty, I’ll hold on tight. For the call may be simple, yet the truth stays profound, Just follow Him closely, and my heart will be found.

    Dark Hunter

Out in the shadows where the lost souls tread Whispers of the dark, the living dread I’m no longer part of this world, left my heart at the gate Saw the other side, where the stitched souls wait Commissioned by the Lord's angel, I’m burdened with a task To hunt the demons lurking, no questions left to ask I’ve felt the fire in my veins, a hellish kind of light The snakes, the vipers, the reptiles in flight They drink from the heart, more than flesh and bone Robbing the spirit, turning flesh into stone I’m coming for you, shape shifter, in the dead of night I show no mercy to your evil, I’ll bring the fight I hunt you in your darkness, destroy your wicked forms I’m the storm on the edge, the eye of raging swarms Fear sets in the hearts of all the low and the weak Your whispers are shackles, your eyes only speak The flicker of a candle in a field made of dread But I’ve seen the other side, there’s no room for the dead I wear the night like a cloak, shadows wrapped around Anointed by shadows, it’s time to hunt you down The darkness loses ground, the light begins to sway In the hunt for the darkness, I'm the one who’ll stay I’m coming for you, shape shifter, in the dead of night I show no mercy to your evil, I’ll bring the fight I hunt you in your darkness, destroy your wicked forms I’m the storm on the edge, the eye of raging swarms I am your fear personified, haunted by desire With every shiver that you feel, I am the growing fire So tremble in the shadows, your time is running short I’ll free mankind from shackles, mercy is my court I’m Dark Hunter, I’ve faced the other side I’ll see you in the shadows; it’s my time to guide You run from me, you slither, but I’ll break the chains of fear I am your Dark Hunter, the end is drawing near

    Standing Before Life

A young man stands at the edge of the fight, Facing down the giant, with all of his might. Money's tight, and life's a winding road, But he's got that fire, and he's ready to go. The doors may close, and friends may drift away, Plans fall apart, but he’ll find a way. He knows that hope is a choice we can make, With strength in his heart, he won't break. Oh, he chooses hope, no matter the cost, In the face of struggle, he won't feel lost. Setbacks are lessons, and he’ll rise from the fall, With quiet optimism, he’ll answer the call. Step by step, he makes the giant seem small, With every small promise, he’s standing tall. Early mornings light his path with the dawn, Honest work, gratitude, keeping him strong. Learning new things as the days roll by, Keeping his chin up, with dreams in the sky. Asking for help when the road gets rough, Offering kindness, 'cause that’s how he’s tough. Mistakes are just data, he takes them in stride, In the face of failure, he won’t run or hide. [Chorus] Oh, he chooses hope, no matter the cost, In the face of struggle, he won't feel lost. Setbacks are lessons, and he’ll rise from the fall, With quiet optimism, he’ll answer the call. Step by step, he makes the giant seem small, With every small promise, he’s standing tall. [Bridge] Fear is a signal, he feels it deep down, But he wades through the shadows, won’t wear a frown. Service to others, it widens his view, As he lends a hand, he finds strength anew. He’s growing kinder, steadier each day, With courage in his soul, he’s finding his way. So here he stands before Life, head held high, With a heart full of dreams, reaching for the sky. No swagger, just grace in the face of the fight, With a stubborn optimism that shines oh so bright.
