Feeling Disqualified? How God Sees You | Monday Moments Ep. 186

Have you ever felt unworthy, unqualified, or too broken for God to use you? The story of Gideon reminds us that God sees us differently than we often see ourselves. In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis and Pastor Dennis take a deeper dive into the story of Gideon in Judges and explore what happens when our view of ourselves doesn't line up with how God sees us. Gideon saw his weaknesses, his limitations, and his circumstances. God saw someone He had called for a purpose. Together, they discuss the difference between trying to earn God's approval and living out of the love He has already given us through Jesus Christ. Our calling isn't about being good enough, having all the answers, or possessing extraordinary abilities. It's about trusting God, receiving His love, and taking the next step of obedience. In this episode, we explore: The story of Gideon and his encounter with GodWhy we often feel disqualified from God's callingHow our view of God shapes the way we see ourselvesThe difference between earning God's love and responding to itWhy God can use ordinary people despite their weaknessesWhat it means to live out our calling and produce fruitHow Jesus brings us peace with God and gives us a new identityThe reminder we all need: God doesn't call us because we're already worthy or equipped. He calls us, loves us, and invites us to trust Him. We don't serve God to earn His love; we serve because of what He has already done for us. Even when you're hiding in your own version of a wine press, God knows where you are. Your past, your fears, and your limitations do not have the final word. Scripture references: Judges 6–7; John 10:10; 1 Corinthians 1:26–29; 1 Peter 2:23. Living for Christ, Not Ourselves | Monday Moments Ep. 185

What does it really mean to be a servant of Jesus Christ? Is serving God simply another obligation on our already busy schedules, or is it a joyful response to the love and grace He has shown us? In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis and Pastor James take a deeper dive into Sunday's sermon and explore the biblical meaning of servanthood. Together, they challenge us to examine our hearts, reconsider our priorities, and discover what it means to live as disciples who serve Christ out of love rather than obligation. Drawing from Scripture and real-life examples, they discuss why serving begins in the heart, how our understanding of Christ's sacrifice shapes our willingness to serve, and why we must learn to prioritize God's Kingdom over our own comfort and convenience. You'll also hear encouraging reminders that you don't have to feel qualified or have everything figured out to serve God. When He calls us to take a step of faith, He promises to be with us and equip us for what He has called us to do. IN THIS EPISODE, WE EXPLORE: What it means to be a bond servant of ChristWhy genuine servanthood begins in the heartHow gratitude for Jesus' sacrifice transforms our motivation to serveWhy serving God is more than fulfilling a church obligationChoosing Kingdom priorities over personal comfort and convenienceOvercoming fear, busyness, and feelings of inadequacyFinding joy in serving others without seeking recognitionDiscovering where God is calling you to serveA QUESTION TO CONSIDER: Are you choosing comfort or choosing the Kingdom? Rather than simply asking whether you have time to serve, ask the Lord, "Where would You have me serve?" You may not feel ready, qualified, or equipped. But as Moses discovered, the answer isn't always found in what you can do on your own. It's found in the God who promises to be with you. Learning to Hear the Father | Monday Moments Ep. 184

If prayer is such a gift, why do we so often neglect it? And why can prayer sometimes feel like we're talking to the ceiling? In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis sits down with Pastor James for Part 33 of the Everyday Disciple series to explore prayer as more than a religious ritual or a way to bring our requests to God. Prayer is an ongoing relationship with our Heavenly Father - a conversation that involves both speaking and listening. Together, they discuss how our understanding of God's character shapes the way we approach Him, why we sometimes struggle to hear His voice, and how our own expectations can get in the way of trusting His plans. In this episode, we explore: Why so many of us struggle to maintain a consistent prayer life. How our view of God influences the way we pray. The importance of quietness, listening, and making room for God's voice. Why prayer is about surrendering our will, not simply asking God to fulfill our desires. What it means to approach God's throne boldly, yet humbly. How to begin developing a more consistent, meaningful prayer life.Pastor James offers a practical starting point: find a consistent time to pray, create space away from competing voices, and use the Lord's Prayer as a guide. Bring your requests to God, but also take time to listen and seek His direction. Here's a question to consider: Do you want the peace of God, or do you want the God of peace? God invites us into more than a transaction. He invites us into a relationship - one that grows as we consistently seek Him, listen to Him, and learn to trust Him. Thanks for joining us for another episode of Monday Moments. We pray this conversation encourages you to make prayer an everyday part of your walk with Jesus. #MondayMoments #EverydayDisciple #Prayer #ChristianFaith #Discipleship #HearingGod

Re-Digging the Wells of Worship | Monday Moments Ep. 183

What does it really mean to worship? In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis sits down with Pastor Dennis to take a deeper dive into Sunday's message about worship, the wells of faith we inherit from those who came before us, and the wells we are called to dig for future generations. Using the story of Isaac re-digging the wells of his father Abraham, they explore what it means to reclaim the biblical understanding of worship rather than allowing it to become covered over by tradition, preference, or distraction. We are reminded that we are not simply people who attend a worship service - we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Through Jesus, the veil has been torn, and we have the privilege of entering into the presence of God. The conversation also explores: • Why worship is for God, not for our personal preferences • Why worship cannot be outsourced to worship leaders or musicians • The importance of standing on the shoulders of those who came before us • Why every generation must learn to “dig its own well” • Worship as “the plow” that prepares hearts to receive the Word of God • The connection between worship, prayer, intercession, and the presence of God • Practical ways to begin developing a deeper life of worship Pastor Dennis offers a simple starting point: spend regular time with God, declare His praises, read the Psalms, and intentionally thank Him for who He is before bringing Him our requests. Worship isn't about checking a box. It's about being with Him. Join us for this encouraging and challenging conversation about rediscovering the heart of worship. #MondayMoments #Worship #ChristianWorship #Prayer #HolySpirit #Church #Faith

The True Cost of Following Jesus | Monday Moments Ep. 182

What does it really mean to follow Jesus when following Him gets uncomfortable? In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis sits down with Pastor James to take a deeper look at Jesus’ words in Matthew 10, where He prepares His disciples for the realities of following Him - including opposition, rejection, persecution, and difficult circumstances. Jesus sends His followers out “as sheep among wolves,” calling them to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. But He also reminds them that He is the Good Shepherd - He knows where He is leading them, provides for them, and promises that the Holy Spirit will be with them. The conversation explores some challenging questions: • Who is really shepherding your life? • Are you allowing fear, comfort, public opinion, or circumstances to determine your direction? • Why does following Jesus sometimes lead us into uncomfortable places? • Why shouldn't we go looking for persecution - but instead walk with wisdom and integrity? • How can difficult seasons develop our character and deepen our faith? • What makes following Jesus worth the cost? Ultimately, the choice isn't between an easy life and a difficult one. It's about whether we trust the Good Shepherd enough to follow Him wherever He leads. As the conversation puts it: “Comfort or character?” Jesus never promised that following Him would always be comfortable. But He does promise that He is good, that He will provide, and that life with Him is worth more than anything this world can offer. Scripture discussed: Matthew 10; Psalm 23; John 15–16; 1 Peter 4; James 1; Romans 8. #MondayMoments #FollowingJesus #ChristianDiscipleship #Faith #Jesus #GoodShepherd #ChristianLife

From Knowing God to Experiencing God | Monday Moments Ep. 181

What we know about God doesn’t always match how we experience God. In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis sits down with Derek to take a deeper dive into Sunday’s message and explore a question that reaches to the heart of discipleship: Do we simply know that God is loving and near, or do we actually experience Him that way? Derek shares how formative experiences, relationships, and the way we were introduced to God can shape the way we perceive Him. Even when we believe the truth about God intellectually, we may still experience Him as distant, critical, or disappointed in us. Together, they explore how God desires to restore those false narratives and reveal Himself as the loving and present God He truly is. They discuss the importance of God’s Spirit within us, God’s Word before us, and God’s people around us—and why the Christian life was never meant to be lived in isolation. Most importantly, this conversation offers a practical invitation: practice the presence of God. Rather than striving to earn God's love, we can learn to rest in the reality that we are already fully loved and accepted in Christ. Through simple, daily moments of turning our attention toward God, what we know in our heads can increasingly become something we experience in our hearts. As Derek puts it, the goal is to move from head knowledge to heart knowledge—from knowing about God to truly knowing Him. In this episode: Why knowing God is loving doesn't always mean we experience Him as lovingHow formative experiences can shape our view of GodThe connection between attachment, relationships, and our perception of GodWhy God created us for dependence and relationshipThe danger of approaching God through performance, religion, or rebellionHow the church becomes a place of healing and relational connectionWhat it means to practice the presence of GodMoving from head knowledge to heart knowledgeResting in God's declaration: “You are my beloved child.”If you've ever thought, “I know God loves me, but I don't know if He likes me,” this conversation is for you. Join us as we discover the difference between the God we may fear, the God we may have been taught about, and the God who truly is. #MondayMoments #FreedomFellowship #Discipleship #KnowingGod #PresenceOfGod #ChristianLife #Jesus

When the Walls Come Down | Monday Moments Ep. 180

What if seeing the walls come down in our lives - and in the lives of those around us - is not a matter of trying harder, but of surrender and faith? In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis sits down with Pastor Charlie to take a deeper look at the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho in Joshua 6. What was a literal, historical event also gives us a powerful picture of what God wants to do in our hearts. The walls of Jericho can represent those places in our lives that we have not yet fully surrendered to God. And just as the Israelites could not bring those walls down through their own strength, we cannot transform ourselves - or the people around us - through our own efforts. So what is our role? Prayer. Faith. Obedience. Surrender. We don't have the power to transform people's lives, but God invites us to be part of His work - to become a conduit through which His presence and power can flow to the people He has placed around us. In this conversation, we talk about: • Why prayer is central to disciple-making • What the walls of Jericho can teach us about surrender • The difference between simply reading Scripture and allowing Scripture to "read us" • Why we sometimes hold on to things even when God has given us His promises • What it means to be a conduit of God's power and presence • Why "try harder" isn't the answer • How repentance, confession, and surrender prepare us to be used by God • Entering God's promises by faith rather than force • Why we need to hold our expectations of what God will do loosely • How God's work in us can become a testimony that spreads to those around us The goal isn't simply to become a "better you." It's to experience the freedom, healing, wholeness, and transformation that come when we surrender ourselves to God and allow Him to make us new. Scripture discussed: Joshua 6–7, John 7, John 15, James, and other passages throughout Scripture. Thanks for joining us for another episode of Monday Moments. We pray that the Lord would graciously and gently reveal anything in our hearts that still needs to be surrendered - not for shame or condemnation, but for freedom, transformation, healing, and wholeness. #MondayMoments #Joshua6 #Jericho #Faith #Prayer #Surrender #Discipleship #ChristianLife #GodsWord

Stop Outsourcing Your Faith | Monday Moments Ep. 179

What happens when we stop outsourcing the things God has entrusted to us? In this episode of Monday Moments, Travis and Pastor James take a deeper look at the story of the nobleman in John 4, a father who heard Jesus' words, believed Him, and acted on that belief—even before he saw the miracle. That story opens the door to a much bigger conversation about faith, responsibility, obedience, and the temptation to remain on the sidelines. We talk about what it means to: • Take ownership of the responsibilities God has given you • Refuse to outsource your spiritual responsibility to someone else • Lead and cover your family well • Trust God's Word before you see the results • Understand that right belief produces right behavior • Keep moving forward even when you feel inadequate or face resistance • Embrace repentance and allow God to continue changing you • Build strong marriages and families through faith, encouragement, and community One of the central challenges of this episode is simple: Don't wait until you feel qualified. Don't wait until you see the miracle. Believe God, take the next step, and trust Him to meet you as you go. For husbands and fathers in particular, this episode is a powerful encouragement to step into spiritual leadership—not through our own strength, but by relying on the faithfulness and promises of God. And for wives, mothers, and the rest of the church community, there's an equally important call to encourage and strengthen the men who are stepping into that responsibility. You don't have to get everything right. In fact, you won't. But anything worth doing is worth doing poorly in the beginning. Don't let discomfort, inadequacy, fear, or past failures keep you from taking the next step toward Jesus. Believe. Act. Keep going. God is faithful. #MondayMoments #Faith #ChristianLiving #ChristianMen #Fatherhood #Marriage #Discipleship #FaithInAction #John4 #BibleStudy
