Nilan Lansing

Surrendered Strength is a podcast for Christian men who want to build a strong body without losing their soul—and deepen their faith without going soft. This show lives at the intersection of fitness, faith, and surrender, where discipline meets dependence on God. Each episode tackles real conversations about strength training, mental toughness, leadership, and spiritual formation, all through a biblical lens. We talk about what it means to train hard, live with purpose, and surrender control—not as weakness, but as the pathway to true strength. This podcast is for men who are tired of shallow motivation and want lasting transformation. Men who understand that the strongest life isn't built on self-reliance alone, but on obedience, humility, and trust in Christ. Build your body. Sharpen your mind. Surrender your will. Because real strength starts on your knees. 💪✝️ Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:1-2)

    The Strength of Humility

Humility — A Core Value of a Strong Disciple The world often teaches men that strength means being first, being recognized, being right, and proving ourselves. Jesus teaches something radically different. In Matthew 18:1–5, the disciples ask Jesus who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Instead of pointing to the strongest, most accomplished, or most influential person, Jesus brings a child into their midst. He tells them that they must humble themselves like a child. That is the kind of strength we want to build through Strong Disciples. A Strong Disciple is humble. Humility isn't weakness. It is having the strength to stop making everything about ourselves. It's being willing to learn, willing to serve, willing to admit when we're wrong, and willing to put God's will above our own. A humble man doesn't need to prove that he's the strongest man in the room. He recognizes where his strength comes from. Humility allows us to surrender. Humility allows us to be corrected. Humility allows us to serve without recognition. Humility allows us to put our wives, children, brothers, and neighbors ahead of ourselves. Most importantly, humility reminds us that Jesus is the King—we are His disciples. Strong Disciples aren't men trying to build their own kingdoms. We are men surrendering ourselves to God so He can use our strength to build His. Core Value: HUMILITY We don't seek to be greater than others. We seek to become more like Jesus. Matthew 18:4: "Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Discover more with Surrendered Strength Ministry

But Did You Die? When Life Feels Like More Than You Can Carry

What if the thing you thought would break you is actually building you? Life can feel heavy. Marriage. Finances. Work. Purpose. Temptation. Failure. The uncertainty of what comes next. And in the middle of it all, we can become so focused on the weight we're carrying that we forget one simple truth: God is still carrying us. In this episode of the Surrendered Strength Podcast, Nilan builds on the message from Under the Weight with a simple—and slightly humorous—question he often imagines Jesus asking at the end of a difficult day: "But did you die?" You made it through. Maybe it hurt. Maybe it wasn't pretty. Maybe you didn't understand why God allowed it. But you're still here—and you didn't walk through it alone. Through Matthew 6:34, 2 Corinthians 1:3–5, John 14:1, 1 Corinthians 10:13, and James 1:2–3, we look at what Scripture teaches us about trials, suffering, temptation, perseverance, and trusting God when life feels like more than we can handle. Because sometimes life IS more than you can handle on your own. That's the point. We aren't called to carry everything through our own strength. We're called to surrender, trust God, lean on our brothers, and allow our trials to strengthen our faith. Just like training in the gym, you don't lift the entire workout in one rep. One rep. One set. One day at a time. Men, you're not alone. Keep moving forward. Keep surrendering the weight. Keep trusting God. Commit. Trust. Let God move. And if today felt like it nearly broke you... But did you die?

Not willing to be real with God, yet expecting him to be real with you...

What if the reason you're struggling to hear God isn't because He's silent—but because you're still hiding? In this episode of the Surrendered Strength Podcast, we talk about something many Christian men wrestle with: wanting direction from God while struggling to have an honest conversation with Him. For years, I thought I needed to clean myself up before coming to God. Clean up my thoughts. Choose the right words. Control my emotions. Say the "right" prayer. But God doesn't need the polished version of you. He wants the real you. The frustrated you. The angry you. The confused you. The hurting you. The man who doesn't understand what God is doing but is willing to show up and tell Him the truth. God already knows what's happening in your heart. The question is whether you're willing to stop hiding and bring it to Him. Because surrender requires trust—and trust requires honest communication. In this episode, we talk about: Why men struggle to hear God while avoiding honest conversations with Him The lie that we need to "clean ourselves up" before approaching God What changed when I stopped giving God the polished version of myself Why frustration, anger, and confusion can be brought honestly before God The connection between communication, trust, and surrender Why transformation begins when we stop hiding You don't have to impress God with your prayers. Speak honestly. Be real. Be raw. Tell Him where you actually are. Then trust Him with what you've been carrying. "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act." — Psalm 37:5
