Dream Scheme

Max Bellerive

Hi! I'm Max. On Dream Scheme, I chat with folks who have been harmed by Multi-Level-Marketing schemes. My goal is to bring light to the predatory nature of MLMs by sharing stories and debunking lies associated with both the products and "opportunities" offered by these companies. I take a compassionate, educational, and gallows-humour approach to exposing these harmful companies.

    2. Nuri - My Mom is in Market America

On this episode, Nuri tells me about her experience growing up with a multi-level marketing mom. Nuri and I chat about how Market America affected her relationship with her mom, as well as the negative effects of toxic positivity and individualism in society. We also talk about the mass exploitation that is necessary in order for multi-level marketing, and Capitalism in general, to succeed. Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoy our chat as much as I did! **Correction note: At some point in this episode, I state that JR Ridinger (Market America founder) is an "ex-CEO" of Amway. I misspoke - I meant to say that he is an ex-distributor. My bad! Follow me on instagram @dreamscheme.pod for more anti-MLM content! For more info on Market America, read this article by Truth in Advertising: https://truthinadvertising.org/articles/what-you-should-know-about-market-america/ And watch for my upcoming episode where Nuri and I do a deep-dive into everything Market America.

    1. Carl - Essential Oils for Autism

In my first episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with “Carl”, a blind, autistic wheelchair user in Australia. We discuss their childhood as a disabled autistic kid in the late 90s and early aughts, and how MLMs and mommy blogs influenced his parents’ decisions to try “alternative” treatments with him. Content warning: In this episode, we discuss some difficult topics such as medical child abuse, accidental child death, and some of the real harms that can result from ableism in health care. Thanks for listening. Please rate, share, and subscribe if you enjoy Dream Scheme!
