Third Space Endoscopy (TSE) GI procedures with Dr. Mohammed Qadeer

Send us Fan Mail This episode features Dr. Mohammed Qadeer, who is an Interventional Gastroenterologist and the Medical Director of Endoluminal Surgery at Advocate Aurora Medical center in Kenosha, WI.  Dr. Qadeer recently achieved a very rare milestone in his specialty.  He has performed more than 1,100 Third Space Endoscopy (TSE) procedures at Aurora Medical center.  He discusses how he ended up specializing in TSE in a community hospital setting, discusses the role of TSE/ indications and the impact TSE has made in his practice for his patients!  He also discusses the rise of colon cancer rates in the younger population, the importance of getting your screening colonoscopy done and why it is the gold standard! Please join me on this very informative podcast with Dr. Qadeer.  What is Third Space Endoscopy: Third space endoscopy is an advanced, minimally invasive technique where gastroenterologists perform complex procedures inside the wall of the digestive tract. Instead of making external surgical incisions, doctors access the targeted site by tunneling through the submucosal layer (the "third space") between the organ's inner lining and its outer muscle.  How the Technique Works The Entry: The doctor inserts an endoscope through the mouth or anus into the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The Tunneling: A tiny incision is made in the inner mucosal lining, and a specialized tool is used to create a safe tunnel inside the wall of the organ. The Procedure: Through this tunnel, doctors can cut tight muscles, remove tumors, or excise early-stage cancers. The Closure: Once the procedure is finished, the entry incision is closed with medical clips.  If you would like to message Dr. Qadeer please see contact info below: email: AMCK-endoluminalsurgery@aah.org linkedin.com/in/mohammed-abdul-qadeer-ab802695 If you would like to reach out to me, feel free to email me at: drtedthachenkary@gmail.com Support the show

What is Neuro-endoscopy: Neuro-endoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that uses a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope to diagnose and treat conditions of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system. By inserting the endoscope through small incisions or natural openings, surgeons can access hard-to-reach areas with a camera and specialized instruments, allowing for precise procedures like tumor removal, tissue sampling, and relieving pressure from conditions like hydrocephalus. This technique offers benefits such as shorter recovery times and less trauma compared to traditional open surgery.   Links: Here is a link to Dr. Totimeh's music on iTunes.  https://music.apple.com/us/artist/teddy-totimeh/1605609021 To contact Dr. Totimeh, please see his email and LinkedIn below: teddytotimeh@gmail.com linkedin.com/in/teddy-totimeh-61133514 If you would like to contact me with any comments or questions, please email me directly at:   drtedthachenkary@gmail.com Support the show
