This is Bill Kelley. Please join me as we hear the word's of Solomon - who many people consider the wisest man who ever lived. We will go over the proverb of the day every day and I will pick a verse (or several) and expound on them. I am believing that, by hearing the wisdom of Solomon, we will become wiser and our lives will begin to improve - as we follow what the word tells us to do.

    369 - Husbands, Love Your Wives - August 31, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 31. I will then key in on verse 23 - Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. Husbands, many times the reason we have the reputation we have is not so much what we've done, but because of the wife we are married to. Today I will go over three verses having to do with the importance of having a wife, and the way we are to treat them. First of all Proverb 18:22 says that He who finds a wife finds a treasure (NLT) and obtains favor from the Lord. The promise given in the second half of that verse describes the importance the Lord gives to the covenant of marriage and the responsibility he gives to the husband. I will then go to 1 Peter 3: verse 7. (and read the commentary of my Bible - the Nelson Study Bible). I will then go to Paul's letter to the Ephesians, Chapter 5 and read verses 25-33. These verses tell us the way we are to treat our wives. Call to action: Husbands, treat your wife as thought she is the most important person on Earth. She is a treasure - treat her that way! Suggested scripture reading - Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 31 in its entirety.

    280. Bill & Judy monthly update - #1 April 28, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 28. I will then key in on verse 6 - Better is the poor who walks in his integrity Than one perverse in his ways, though he be rich. Friends, personally, having integrity is the way that I choose to live my life. My goal is to do the right thing time after time after time - whether people are watching me or not. Judy & I go over our thoughts on second year coming to an end. We will be returning to Florida soon and are looking forward to it. However, we are very thankful for the time we have spent here in Woodland Park, Colorado at the main campus of Charis Bible College. We have made a number of very close friends and we plan on staying in touch with a number of these people. The teaching has been wonderful. Judy goes over some of what she really enjoyed ab out Audrey Mack's class last week on the power of the Holy Spirit.

    279. Walking in Humility (NT-#8) Peter - 3rd of 3 April 27, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be looking at Proverb 27. I will then key in on verse 1 - Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth. Friends, may I suggest that you live each day as though it is the last day you will be here on Earth? If this were your last day, would you do anything differently? I bet you would. Consider those closest to you. Are there people you really care about that you haven't communicated with for some time? Text them. Give them a call. Consider telling those closest to you how important they are to you and that you love them. Today we will continue our study on the Apostle Peter. I will pick up where I left off on yesterday's podcast. May I encourage you to listen to yesterday's podcast - if you were unable to tune in. I will begin with Jesus restoring Peter unto Himself. We know that Peter denied Jesus on the night that He was betrayed. However, when Jesus rose from the dead, Jesus allows Peter to confess three times that he loves Jesus (I will read John Chapter 21: verses 15 through 19). Here Jesus prophesies that Peter will die by crucifixion as did He (however Peter will ask that his executioners place the cross the opposite way that Jesus died. I will then read 2 Peter, Chapter 2: verses 12-17. These verses tell us that there will come false teachers (I believe we are in this time now) that will be living a life of sin and trying to lead people astray from the truth. I will then read 2 Peter Chapter 3: verses 14-18. These verses tell us that we should remain strong in our faith, knowing that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. Call to Action - Put yourself in Peter's place when Jesus asked him three times if he loved Him. What would your answer be. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 27 in its entirety. 2. Reread Chapters 2 & 3 of 2 Peter.

    278. Walking in Humility (NT-#8) Peter - 2nd of 3 April 26, 2023

    Welcome To Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 26. I will then key in on verses 20-22. These verses talk about the perils of gossip and being involved with it. Sometimes we will hear people talking about an individual (without that individual being there). We are not to be a part of these discussions. A good rule of thumb is - if the person isn't there to defend themselves do not add fuel to the fire. You do not know whether what they are saying is even true. Today we will continue where we left off on Monday's podcast. If you did not get a chance to listen to Monday's podcast, I ask that you consider listening to that prior to listening to this podcast. Today we will go over Jesus's prediction of Peter denying Him. I will read from Luke's gospel - Chapter 22: verses 31 through 34. Peter thought he was strong and would never deny Jesus, but he did. Friends, even today, we have the opportunity to deny Jesus. Would you be willing to deny Him? I will then read from 1 Peter Chapter 4: verses 12-16. These verses are very clear. That if we acknowledge that we have received Jesus into our lives and proclaim that He is the Son of God that we will be persecuted. We should be ready (and willing) to stand on our faith in Jesus. I will then read from 1 Peter Chapter 5: verses 5-10. These verses tell us that the devil will come after us, but, that if we submit ourselves one to another, and if we get rid of all semblance of pride, and humble ourselves before the mighty hand of God that Satan will have no power over us. I will then read 2 Peter Chapter 1: verses 16-18. In these verses Peter tells us that he was a witness on the Mount of Transfiguration. He saw Jesus on the Mount with both Moses and Elijah and later, he say Jesus alone and God Himself speak from Heaven declaring that, "This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." Call to Action - imagine, just for a moment what it must have been like to have been on that Mountain and witnessed this for yourself. Ask yourself if you might be a stronger Christin had you witnessed this event? Suggested scripture reading: If you have the time, consider reading the 4th & 5th chapters of 1 Peter and the 1st chapter of 2nd Peter.

Ray is the co-ordinator of the 3rd year Business School at Charis Bible College. Ray discusses his thoughts about his first year working in his capacity of his new job. He goes into detail about things that he has learned this year and how he has grown.

    276. Walking in Humility (NT-#8) Peter - 1st of 3 April 24, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 24. I will then key in on verse 16 - For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again. Friends, there will be times in life when we fall down (make mistakes that may cost us dearly). What this verse tells us is that when (not if, because it will happen) we make these mistakes, that we get up, dust ourselves off, and begin walking again. On today's podcast we will continue our study in humility. Today we will begin the first of three podcasts (Wednesday, Thursday) on the disciple Peter. Prior to being called by Jesus to "follow him" Peter was a fisherman. He was a bit rough around the edges, and was usually the one that would question Jesus if there was anything he didn't understand. But one thing Peter understood is that he truly received the revelation who Jesus truly was (I will read from Matthew's gospel, Chapter 16: verses 13-20). Since Peter is so well known in the gospels I am going to read a short passage from each of the 8 chapters that Peter has for us (5 chapters in 1 Peter and 3 chapters in 2 Peter). I will read from Chapter #1: verses 13-16 and read where Peter has called us to by Holy - because He was holy. What Peter asks of us is that our lives should be separated unto the work that God has given to each of us. Next, I will read from Chapter #2: verses 11 & 12. In these two verses Peter tells us that once we declare that we are Christians, people will be watching our every move. We are to live our lives in such a manner that people will recognize that we are different than most of the people that are in this world. Finally, I will close in Chapter 3: verse 8-12. In these verses Peter tells us that God is also watching our every move and that we are to love one another and avoid evil in any area of our lives. Call to Action - Simply reflect on how Peter could possibly grasp the revelation of who Jesus truly was and, just a few chapters later, deny that he even knew Jesus three times! Suggested scripture reading: If you have the time to do so, please read the first three chapters of 1 Peter. I believe that they will be a blessing to you!
