This is Bill Kelley. Please join me as we hear the word's of Solomon - who many people consider the wisest man who ever lived. We will go over the proverb of the day every day and I will pick a verse (or several) and expound on them. I am believing that, by hearing the wisdom of Solomon, we will become wiser and our lives will begin to improve - as we follow what the word tells us to do.

    305. Where am I headed? #1 June 2, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 2. I will then take a closer look at verse 6 - For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. Friends, if you truly think about the implications of this one verse, you would understand how important it is to the Lord that you acquire wisdom. Also, knowledge and understanding gives you the foundation needed in order to truly develop wisdom in every area of your life. Also, by opening the scriptures can you truly do that. It begins with the Book of Proverbs and either listening to the daily proverb, or reading it on your own (on weekends). On today's podcast, I will give a bit of my testimony. Now that Judy and I are back in Florida and finished with Charis Bible College, the question is, "Where do we go from here?" That it was I discuss on this podcast.

    304. Matthew's gospel - Chapter #8 June 1, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 1. I will then key in on verse 10 - My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. Friends, prior to being saved this might have applied to me. I might have been enticed by sinners. However, since I received Jesus into my heart in 1995, I am no longer enticed by these things. Once we take the step of making the decision to receive Jesus, you may not change overnight - it tends to be a gradual process, but we are no longer allowed to be enticed by sinners. 1 Corinthians 6: verse 20 tells us that we have been bought at a price. We are no longer our own. We are not simply to make Jesus our Savior, but we are to make Him our Lord. With that in mind, we no longer have the choice but to obey the word of God. Today we will continue our study on Matthew's gospel. Today we will take a look at Chapter #8. I will read the first three verses. The first verse is when Jesus has just finished preaching to thousands of people on a hill. Verses 2 & 3 tell of a leper who goes to Jesus and asks to be healed. Jesus says that He is willing and immediately restores the man to complete health. I read verses 5-10. This is a well-known passage of scripture where a Roman centurion asks Jesus to heal his servant, who is at home and paralyzed. Jesus tells the man that He will come with him and heal his servant. But the man objects and tells Him to say the word only, and that he will be healed. Jesus tells the man to go home, and he is restored. I go over the Cost of discipleship and discuss our need to disciple people, and not only lead them in a sinner's prayer. Call to action: I want you to put yourself into that boat (when the waves are getting larger and larger, the lightning is flashing, the thunder is roaring and Jesus is fast asleep in the bought and ask yourself what would you have done? Suggested scripture reading: Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 1 in its entirety; 2. Reread in its entirety Chapter #8 of Matthew's gospel

    368. Every Word of God is Pure - August 30, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 30. I will then key in on verses 5 & 6 - Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar. Friends, if there is any area of your life that is not going the way that you would like for it to be going, this podcast is for you. Today I am going to tie several passages of scripture together and if you piece them together, I believe it will help you to begin to formulate a plan to begin to chance your circumstances in area of your life that you would like to change. In order, we will look at: 2 Timothy, Chapter 3: verses 16 & 17; Paul's letter to the church in Rome: Chapter 12: verses 1 & 2; the same letter to the Romans: Chapter 10: verse 17; and Proverb 3: verses 5 & 6. You put them all together and you have the recipe to change your circumstances. It all boils down to your trust in God! Call to action - Meditate on each of these verses and ask God to make these a part of your life. Suggested scripture reading - Reread today's proverb, Proverb 30 in its entirety.

    367. Rain Bautista shares his personal testimony - August 29, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley.  Today we will be going over Proverb 29.  I will then introduce you to my guest for the day, Rain Bautista.  Rain is a fellow 2nd year Charis Bible College student.  Rain was born in the Philippines and moved to the state of Texas when he was 17 years old.  He has just received Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  He will then share his journey to where he finds himself today.

    366. He is Faithful and Just (to Forgive us Our Sins) - August 28, 2023

    Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 28. I will then key in on verse 13 - He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Friends, from time to time we all will sin. It is best to not try to cover them, but to openly confess them. Today I will go over the topic of sin. I will go over three verses which I hope to present in a package, and, together with today's verse, I believe may help any confusion anyone may have on sin. The first in found in Paul's letter to the Romans - Chapter 3, verse 23. This verse tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Even if we have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we still will make mistakes from time to time. Do not beat yourself up. It's OK. Next, we go to James, Chapter 2, verse 10. I will read this verse, but, it is best if we go back and read the entire passage from verses 8 through verse 13. When reading this passage of scripture, we are told that we are not to show partiality (do not pick favorites). We can still be police, kind, loving, merciful to people who we choose not to associate with. Next, we go to 1 John, Chapter 1 and read verse 9. Once again, if we put this in the proper context and read verse 8 -10, it will make a bit more sense. I will close by going back and reviewing verse 13 of Proverb 28. Hopefully, I have clarified this topic of sin. The bottom line - Jesus has forgiven us of all of our since, but we may need to ask our spouses, our friends, our co-workers, etc. when we commit sins against them.

    Lessons from the Psalms - Psalm 4

    Welcome to Lessons from the Psalms with Bill Kelley. Today we will be looking at Psalm 4. We will break it down verse by verse and explore what David is trying to get across to us. First of all, Psalm 4 is linked to Psalm 3. They may have either been written at the same day, or maybe one day apart. The second thing we notice is that the Psalm was written to the chief musician. This tells us that this is the first psalm that was meant to be sung to whoever it was meant for. It also tells us that it was to be accompanied by stringed instruments. In verse 1 we will feel the strong connection that David has with his God. In verses 2-5 it appears that David is interceding for the unbelievers of his time, and pleading with them to put their trust in God - as he is telling us today (that we are to put our trust in God as well). In verses 6-8 David is implying that, only by having a close, intimate relationship with God will we fell genuine joy, deep peace, and the feeling that we can abide in safety.
