I listened to the podcast right after I decided to get a big chop done. I also booked an appointment at her salon right after. She is so informative and skilled. Very great podcast if you are beginning your natural hair journey or still contemplating. I absolutely love!

I waited 2 yrs to do my big chop because I was so particular in who I would let touch my hair. My mom is a retired stylist, so very few ppl have had their hands in my hair, and I was scared to go to the wrong person. I didn't know whether to go to a male barber, female barber, stylist - was so confused. I found Maxine and was creeping on her for about a yr before I finally made my appointment and I am SOO GLAD I did! She did my big chop and has maintained my cut and curls every month! She helps me with my daughters long thick and coily hair. Every word that comes out of her mouth is GOLD! Not only that , she is an incredible human being! She carries herself with class, her shop is immaculate and investing in her and her business is worth every penny because you get a return investment in yourself ...TRUST ME!

I trying enjoyed listen to Maxine lecture about a topic that she’s knowledgeable and experienced in. Her confidence in conveying this knowledge was well executed. She’s very candid and passionate when speaking about a subject that is dear to her heart because she herself is a Curly Girl. I truly appreciated when she spoke truthfully about To Chop or Not to Chop. I remember when I had to come to the conclusion of this same decision. My hair was half & half, perm& natural. It was broken off so badly that I had to make a conscious decision. Once I did it, I ended up with a Mohawk. It was fly but I had to learn to love it. I felt like a dude and although I received so many compliments, but I didn’t feel pretty. Maxine did go into detail about transitioning if your not ready to do the big chop. Rod Sets or flat twist can truly work. I did Rod sets for months until my hair started growing out. Then I saw Maxine on IG and I was very impressed with the styles and I thought to myself she’s a woman who could make great things happen to my hair. I’ve been under her Hair Care and my hair has grown back and it’s healthier then before because Maxine is into hair. I’m truly a happy camper. To those who are on the fence. Try to get an appointment and she won’t disappoint. Why not let a woman of her stature and compassion become your hairstylist. I guarantee she won’t disappoint.
