  1. Episode 1

S9, E1 - In memory of Noah, Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome)

Send us Fan Mail On this weeks episode Kelly welcomes  Matthew Efird to the podcast.  In this deeply moving episode, Matthew shares the story of his son Noah, who died from Trisomy 13 (Patau syndrome) on March 9th, 2020, the life-changing journey of grief that followed. From Georgia, America, Matthew opens up about the devastating reality of losing a baby, the fog of grief and how profoundly it changed his ability to function, communicate, and navigate everyday life in the way he used too. Together, they explore the often-unspoken experience of fathers in bereavement — the lack of support and language available for dads, the pressure grief places on relationships and the importance of simply being seen. Matthew reflects on the kindness from family and friends that carried his family through. This conversation is an honest look at how every grief journey is unique, how communication becomes essential when coping with loss and how Matthew and his wife learned to “grow together in their grief” by taking the pressure off one another and discovering a new version of themselves. As Matt says, “I am a bereaved parent and I will always long to be with my son.” Kelly & Matthew also discuss the inspiration behind his book created to share Noah’s life and help give more voice, visibility and support to grieving families everywhere. 2. Episode 3

S9, E3 - Neonatal Loss, In memory of Artemis

Send us Fan Mail On this weeks episode Kelly welcome Eirini to the podcast who is all the way from, beautiful Greece. In this very moving and inspirational episode, Eirini shares her story of the loss of her daughter, Artemis. While living in the UK, Eirini’s pregnancy journey took an unexpected turn when doctors discovered three cysts on her baby’s left lung. Faced with overwhelming information and fear, she describes feeling very uncertain as her world changed forever. Following a caesarean birth, her daughter, Artemis, named after the Greek goddess, was born. Although Artemis briefly came back to life through the incredible efforts of the medical team, she sadly died at just six days old. Despite the heartbreak of neonatal loss, Eirini treasures the precious memories she was able to create with her daughter and remains deeply grateful for the compassionate care she received in the UK, which gave her the opportunity to meet, hold and make memories with her daughter. After returning to Greece, Eirini found herself navigating grief with very little support. Having studied Music Therapy in Edinburgh, she reflects on how loss transformed her identity and the way she sees the world. She also shares how difficult it can be when people stop asking questions about your baby, and why having space to speak about Artemis is so important. As Eirini beautifully shares, “My daughter gave me the strength to overcome anything.” This episode is a heartfelt conversation about love, loss, motherhood and carrying a child’s legacy forward.
