AI Agency: The Choice Behind What We Amplify. A solo talk by podcast host, Shilpa Lewis (Epi. #287)

When the Signal Becomes a Choice — Amplify Authentically with AI™ A solo podcast episode with host Shilpa Lewis What does it mean to stay authentically yourself when the tools are this powerful? In this solo episode, Omni Mindfulness Podcast host Shilpa Lewis reflects on a month of conversations about authenticity, creativity, expertise, and discernment in the age of AI. Throughout August, Shilpa explored that question through three very different conversations: AI strategist Paul Culshaw, musician and Music Mindfulness founder Josh Brill, and multidisciplinary artist Bosko Hrnjak. Paul brought the conversation back to clarity — knowing the expertise and signal that are genuinely ours. Josh brought it back to listening — making room for the head, heart, and body to hear what genuinely wants to be expressed. Bosko brought it back to the critical eye — especially after his own assumptions about AI were challenged by an experiment that left him genuinely surprised by what the technology could see in his artwork. They didn’t draw the same boundaries around AI. And perhaps that’s the point. In this short solo reflection, Shilpa brings those three lenses together and asks: If AI can increasingly write, create, critique, recommend, and even act on our behalf, what are we consciously choosing to amplify — and from what inner place are we making that choice? She also revisits a college prank involving a fellow student named Dave, a computer login screen, and a little nod to HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey — a memory that now feels surprisingly relevant to the way we think about AI and agency. The machine appeared to be making the choice. But the agency was still ours. In this episode  Why authentic amplification begins before AI enters the process Paul’s lens of clarity and recognizable expertise  Josh’s perspective on embodied listening, intuition, and creative expression  Bosko’s surprising shift from HAL-inspired skepticism to curiosity  Why a more capable AI may make our own critical eye and discernment more important The difference between delegating a task and delegating a capacity we still need to cultivate Why there may be no universal rule for how much AI is “too much”  The role of the pause in keeping choice and agency visible 🐘 The Elephant in the Room This episode also connects to Shilpa’s companion essay: Sorry, Dave: What If AI Isn’t Taking Our Agency? Rather than asking only whether AI will eventually take human agency, the essay asks a more immediate question: What happens when convenience makes it less necessary for us to exercise our own? And one decision lens Shilpa returns to is: Don’t only ask, “Can AI do this?”  Ask, “What happens to me if I stop doing this?” → Read the full Elephant in the Room essay: https://omnimindfulness.com/sorry-dave-ai-human-agency/ Listen to the August conversations Paul Culshaw — clarity, expertise, authority, and becoming recognizable in an AI-shaped world → https://omnimindfulness.com/the-legibility-gap-why-authentic-experts-still-struggle-to-be-seen-in-the-age-of-ai-a-conversation-with-ai-strategist-paul-culshaw-epi-283/ Josh Brill — music, mindfulness, embodied listening, intuition, and AI-generated creativity → https://omnimindfulness.com/the-listening-signal-what-happens-when-ai-can-make-the-music-a-conversation-with-music-mindfulness-founder-josh-brill-epi-284/ Bosko Hrnjak — art, critical thinking, the human eye, and what happened when AI surprised him → PART 1: https://omnimindfulness.com/the-artists-eye-can-ai-develop-a-critical-eye-part-1-a-conversation-with-bosko-hrnjak-epi-285/ → PART 2: https://omnimindfulness.com/the-artists-eye-can-ai-express-what-only-humans-embody-part-2-a-conversation-with-bosko-hrnjak-epi-286/ A pause prompt Before your next AI prompt, pause for a moment and ask: What am I trying to amplify — and is it authentically mine? The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Express What Only Humans Embody? (Part 2) — A Conversation with Bosko Hrnjak (Epi. # 286)

🎨 The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Express What Only Humans Embody? (Part 2) — A Conversation with Bosko Hrnjak (Epi. # 286) AI can recognize patterns, analyze images, and help us create. But AI has never lived a human life. In Part 2 of my conversation with multidisciplinary artist Bosko Hrnjak, we turn the artist’s eye back toward the human. Through stories of artistic practice, the Salton Sea, sensory experience, intuition, mana, embodiment, and lived discernment, we explore how a lifetime of actually seeing, sensing, making, and remembering shapes what an artist learns to see. And we ask a deeper question: If AI cannot embody our human experience, can it still help us express and amplify what we have embodied? 🎨 Part 1: The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Develop a Critical Eye? 🎨 Part 2: The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Express What Only Humans Embody? The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Develop a Critical Eye? (Part 1) — A Conversation with Bosko Hrnjak (Epi. # 285)

🎨 The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Develop a Critical Eye? (Part 1) — A Conversation with Bosko Hrnjak (Epi. # 285) What happens when an artist who has spent decades developing his eye asks AI to critique his work — without telling it who made it? In Part 1 of this two-part conversation, multidisciplinary artist Bosko Hrnjak brings a critical lens to AI and finds himself genuinely surprised — even “wowed” — by what it can perceive. We explore critical thinking, pattern recognition, artistic discernment, and AI as a potential thinking partner — while asking whether technology might help us notice connections and nuances we otherwise miss. Bosko is a pioneering figure in the modern Tiki revival whose handcrafted work spans carving, ceramics, painting, photography, assemblage, and design. His site describes his Polynesian Pop work as handcrafted in Southern California since 1993.  🎨 Part 1: The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Develop a Critical Eye? 🎨 Part 2: The Artist’s Eye: Can AI Express What Only Humans Embody? The Listening Signal: What Happens When AI Can Make the Music? A Conversation with Music Mindfulness Founder Josh Brill. (Epi. # 284)

🎙️ The Listening Signal: What Happens When AI Can Make the Music? What happens to human creativity when AI can make the music? For musician, educator, producer, and Music Mindfulness founder Josh Brill, that question goes deeper than whether AI-generated music is good or bad. https://www.joshbrill.com/mission-1-1 After nearly four decades with music, Josh has come to see creativity as something we learn to listen for — through what he describes as three instruments: the head, the heart, and the body. In this conversation, we explore how music can move beyond something we simply produce or perform and become a practice of presence, embodiment, and intuition. And then we bring AI into the conversation. Josh describes himself as something of an anomaly among musicians when it comes to AI. Rather than seeing AI-generated music only as a threat, he wonders whether it might also become an on-ramp into creativity — allowing people without years of technical training to give voice to musical ideas that might otherwise remain unheard. But greater access to creation also raises a deeper question: If AI can increasingly produce the output, what becomes more valuable about being human? For Josh, the answer may lie in the capacities AI gives us more room to cultivate: emergent creativity, intuition, compassion, care, presence, and meaningful human connection. Perhaps the opportunity isn't to compete with AI at producing more. It's to become better listeners to what is genuinely ours to express. ✨ Inside This Episode  How music moves beyond the thinking mind into the head, heart, and body Why embodied listening can help us distinguish intuition from mental noise  Why Josh sees AI-generated music as a creative on-ramp, not simply a threat to musicians  What may become more valuable as AI makes creative output easier to produce Why creativity sometimes requires space, uncertainty, and listening for the next note How AI might handle more computational work while humans deepen creativity, intuition, compassion, and connection🧭 A Question to Sit With Before asking AI to amplify your creativity, how well have you learned to recognize what is genuinely yours to express? 🌿 Josh’s 1-1-1 Essentials One Insight: Approach creativity as something that is speaking to you, and a natural movement forward can begin to emerge. The Legibility Gap: Why Authentic Experts Still Struggle to Be Seen in the Age of AI. A Conversation with AI Strategist, Paul Culshaw. (Epi. # 283)

In this episode of the Omni Mindfulness Podcast, Shilpa Lewis speaks with digital strategist Paul Culshaw about a growing challenge for founders and experts online: the legibility gap — when real expertise exists but isn’t clearly recognized in the digital world. Paul has spent more than 25 years in digital marketing, working across SEO, online strategy, and visibility systems. Today he helps solopreneurs and personal brands become recognized experts online, especially as AI-driven platforms begin shaping how credibility and authority are surfaced. Together, we explore how clarity, structure, and authentic expertise help founders stand out — not only in search engines, but increasingly inside AI systems like ChatGPT and other large language models. Because in an age of algorithmic amplification, expertise alone isn’t enough — it must be legible. In This Episode • Why many talented founders remain invisible online despite deep expertise • The concept of the Legibility Gap and how it affects recognition in AI-driven systems • How confusion and “content chaos” can dilute your authority signal • Why clear positioning and proof of expertise matter more than ever • A sustainable approach to visibility using one core anchor piece of content Guest Paul Culshaw Digital strategist and creator of the Authority Engine framework, helping entrepreneurs and personal brands become recognized experts online in both search engines and emerging AI discovery systems. 🌐 Website & Resources https://www.paulculshaw.com/fuzzled/free-resources/ 🎙 Podcast Fuzzled: From Confusion to Clarity https://www.paulculshaw.com/fuzzled/ Staying sharp outside & grounded within? The Cost of Disconnecting from Your Human Signal: What Happens When You Stop Listening to Yourself. A Conversation with Inner Authority Guide and Author Catherine Crestani. (Epi. #282)

The Cost of Disconnecting from Your Human Signal: What Happens When You Stop Listening to Yourself A Conversation with Inner Authority Guide and Author Catherine Crestani What happens when the life you've worked so hard to build no longer feels like your own? In this episode, I sit down with Catherine Crestani—inner authority guide, speaker, and author—to explore what happens when we override our intuition in pursuit of achievement, security, or the expectations of others. Drawing from her own journey through burnout, chronic stress, and rebuilding after walking away from a successful business, Catherine shares how learning to choose herself transformed not only her work, but her health and sense of purpose. As she puts it, our bodies often know the truth long before our minds are willing to admit it. Together we explore why so many high achievers disconnect from their inner signal, how success can become misaligned with fulfillment, and what it looks like to build a life that reflects who we truly are—not who we think we're supposed to be. ✨ Inside This Episode  Why achievement without alignment can quietly lead to burnout  How your body often signals misalignment before your mind catches up  What it means to choose yourself—even when it requires letting go of what looks successful  Why learning to trust your inner authority is an essential leadership skill 🌿 A Question to Sit With Where in your life have you been trying to hold everything together… when your inner wisdom may be inviting you to choose yourself instead? 🔗 Connect with Catherine Crestani 🌐 https://willowhealing.org/ 📱 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/willowhealing/ 📘 My Virtual Obsession (psychological novel exploring modern connection and emotional attachment) Staying sharp outside & grounded within? The Wisdom in Your Bones: The Money Lessons a Grandmother Passed Down That Wall Street Never Could A Conversation with Certified Financial Planner and Wealth Coach Therese Nicklas What if your relationship with money didn't begin with your first paycheck... but with the stories you heard around the kitchen table? In this episode, I sit down with Certified Financial Planner™, Certified Money Coach®, and wealth coach Therese Nicklas for a conversation that begins with financial literacy—but quickly becomes something much deeper. Together, we explore how our earliest experiences shape the way we think about money, why so many women were never invited into financial conversations, and how fear, scarcity, and confidence are often passed from one generation to the next.  At the heart of our conversation is the remarkable story of Therese's grandmother—an immigrant from Sicily who arrived in America with almost nothing, yet possessed extraordinary financial wisdom. Through everyday conversations, quiet generosity, remarkable patience, and unwavering discipline, she taught lessons about stewardship that no textbook or investment strategy ever could. Those lessons continue to shape Therese's work today and are now being passed on to future generations.  We also explore how money carries emotional energy, why simplifying our finances can reduce anxiety, and how awareness—not perfection—is often the first step toward financial empowerment. Rather than treating money as something intimidating, Therese invites us to see it for what it truly is: a tool that can support a life of greater freedom, intention, and purpose.  ✨ Inside This Episode  Why so many women were never taught to confidently manage money  How childhood stories quietly shape lifelong financial habits  The extraordinary lessons Therese learned from her Sicilian grandmother  Why financial confidence begins with awareness, not complexity  How simplifying cash flow can replace fear with clarity  The emotional energy we attach to money—and how to transform it  Practical ways to teach children healthy money habits through everyday life  Why generosity, patience, and stewardship may be the greatest financial legacy we leave behind 🌿 A Reflection What money story did you inherit... and is it still serving the life you're trying to build? Decoding the Blueprint for Human Longevity: What Your Body, Relationships, and Daily Routine Are Already Telling You A Conversation with Author and Traditional Naturopath Allison McCune Davis What if longevity isn't something we discover decades from now... but something we're quietly building today? In this episode, I sit down with traditional naturopath, author, and wellness educator Allison McCune Davis to explore what it really means to create a long, healthy, and purposeful life—not through dramatic transformations, but through the small choices we make every day. After turning sixty, Allison found herself asking a deeper question: What do I want the next chapter of my life to look like? That question led her to study the science of longevity, the habits of the world's Blue Zones, and the daily practices that help people not only live longer—but live with vitality, purpose, and connection.  Together, we explore why purpose is one of the strongest predictors of longevity, how relationships may be even more important than diet or exercise, and why our future is often hidden inside our daily routines.
