The White Bikini Episode 129: Chester Is Coming Back — And the Investment Is Finally Following

Pennsylvania has recently directed significant public investment toward Chester and southeastern Delaware County, pairing infrastructure rehabilitation with community redevelopment. Under Governor Josh Shapiro, Chester is receiving support through a nearly $100 million public-private revitalization initiative focused on safer streets, blight removal, home repairs, recreation, economic development, and improved connections between downtown, the waterfront, and Widener University. Across Delaware County, additional state-backed projects include major highway and bridge reconstruction, park and institutional renovations, and new community facilities. Together, these investments represent a broad effort to modernize aging infrastructure, strengthen neighborhoods, attract private development, and improve long-term quality of life for residents.

We remember the shock, the grief, and the unity that followed, when strangers became neighbors and service became a national calling. A quarter century later, the passage of time has not diminished the importance of remembrance. The White Bikini Episode 124: Delaware County Medical Crisis-Patients Suffering

Delaware County, Pennsylvania, is facing a serious hospital-access crisis following the 2025 collapse of Crozer Health. The closures of Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital left the county with only two acute-care hospitals, Riddle Hospital and Mercy Fitzgerald, while eliminating the county’s only trauma center. The fallout has meant longer ambulance trips, heavier emergency-room volumes, and greater pressure on surrounding health systems. Riddle Hospital, for example, reported a sharp increase in emergency department demand after Crozer closed. Those who stayed were rewarded after midnight with a rousing Roots-led showcase featuring Kathy Sledge, State Property, Meek Mill, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith, who closed with “Summertime” before dazzling fireworks. Still, punishing heat, canceled events, the weather disruption and Christina Aguilera’s absence prevented the night from becoming the seamless, once-in-a-generation spectacle Philadelphia had envisioned for this historic national milestone.
