Lindsay Clancy Trial, Part 2: The Evidence Police Left Behind

This episode discusses the deaths of three children, a suicide attempt, autopsy evidence presented in court, and severe maternal mental illness. It concerns an active criminal trial. Amy is not a doctor, a lawyer, or law enforcement. This is her perspective as a mom of eight who has experienced postpartum depression. If this is not what you need today, please skip it. Part 2 of Amy's breakdown of the Lindsay Clancy trial focuses on what law enforcement did not collect. Lindsay's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington (whom Amy would hire in a heartbeat), returned to the Clancy home after police finished searching. In her nightstand, he found five empty pill bottles—every pill taken. Amy's take: had investigators done that work, the prosecution could not have claimed Lindsay was skipping medication. Then the journals. The prosecution read one isolated line on direct. On cross-examination, the full context emerged: the agony of hearing her baby cry during sleep training, guilt over breastfeeding struggles, and intense anxiety about returning to work and bringing germs home. "These are not the journals of someone plotting," Amy notes. "They're the journals of an exhausted, anxious, devoted mom tearing herself apart trying to get everything right." Amy also breaks down:• The out-of-state facility that discharged Lindsay after just 36 hours in December• Why the state lacked her medical records• The ER doctor who couldn't recall vs. the ICU nurses who remembered everything• The chart noting "suspected postpartum psychosis"• Why Lindsay requested a lawyer from her ICU bed (not what people assume)• The courtroom moment autopsy photos were shown while Lindsay sobbed She ends, as promised, with hope. If you or someone you love is struggling:• Postpartum Support International: Call/text 1-800-944-4773• Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call/text 988 Timestamps 00:00 Kevin Reddington, and why Amy would hire him 01:30 Five empty pill bottles police never found 03:00 In defense of Patrick Clancy ("He took his kids skiing. Lindsay Clancy Trial, Part 1: Postpartum Psychosis and How the System Failed Her

This episode discusses the deaths of three children, a suicide attempt, postpartum psychosis and an active criminal trial. Amy is not a doctor or a licensed mental health professional. Everything here is her opinion as a mom of eight in recovery. If this one is not for you, skip it. Amy is talking about the Lindsay Clancy trial again. Sorry, not sorry. This is Part 1 of her breakdown, recorded as the trial moved from the evidence phase into the mental health testimony. She starts with why she cannot look away: she was arrested for a DUI with four of her kids in the car. She did not kill them. She could have. That is why this case has her heart. From there she gets into the difference between postpartum depression (common, and she has had it) and postpartum psychosis (rare, and what Lindsay's defense says she had), why the only question in front of the jury is sanity and not guilt, and why she believes a sick woman who kept asking for help was failed by doctors, insurance and a culture that does not let moms fall apart. The turning point is Patrick Clancy's testimony. The prosecution argued Lindsay was not taking her medication. Her husband testified she kept a daily diary: every drug, every dose, how she slept, how she felt, even a page tracking her own troubling thoughts. Those half-full pill bottles? Amy explains why they show a patient following instructions every time a doctor changed the plan, not a patient refusing care. In this episode: Why a sober mom of eight cannot stop watching this trial Postpartum depression vs. postpartum psychosis, in plain language The one question the jury is actually deciding What her friends, in-laws and husband said on the stand Why self-advocacy is nearly impossible when you are the one who is sick Lindsay's diary, the pill bottles, and what Patrick Clancy's testimony did to the prosecution's theory If you or someone you love is struggling after a birth: Postpartum Support International, call or text 1-800-944-4773. In crisis, call or text 988. Timestamps 00:00 Why Amy keeps talking about the Lindsay Clancy trial 02:00 Not a doctor.
