In Ruth chapter 2, Ruth goes looking for food and just so happens to find herself in a field belonging to Boaz. What seems like an ordinary coincidence becomes part of an extraordinary story of God's providence. In this message, Michael Newton explores how God often works through ordinary moments, faithful decisions, and unexpected acts of kindness. Ruth doesn't receive a vision or hear a voice from heaven telling her where to go. She simply takes the next faithful step. And Boaz, without knowing the significance of his actions, becomes an instrument of God's provision through his generosity. We often want God to reveal the entire plan before we're willing to take the first step. But what if faithfulness isn't about knowing where everything is going? What if it's about trusting God's character and doing the next good thing in front of us? What looks like coincidence to us can be providence in the hands of God. You don't have to see the whole story to trust the One who holds it.

    When Life Doesn't Go as Planned | The Book of RuthScripture: Ruth 1v1-5 What do you do when the life you're living isn't the life you thought you'd have? We all have expectations for how our lives will unfold—our marriages, families, careers, relationships, and futures. But what happens when life takes an unexpected turn, when prayers seem unanswered, and when the places we expected to find joy become places of disappointment? The book of Ruth is often remembered as a beautiful story of redemption. But Ruth doesn't begin with redemption. It begins with grief. In Ruth 1:1–5, we meet Naomi, a woman who experiences famine, displacement, and the devastating loss of her husband and two sons. Her story reminds us that following God doesn't mean life will always go as planned. In this message, Michael Newton explores what it means to trust God when life hurts, why grief is not a failure of faith, and how we can resist the temptation to interpret God's goodness entirely through our circumstances. Sometimes we find ourselves in a chapter of life we never would have chosen. But just because we can't see what God is doing doesn't mean He isn't working. Our current chapter is not the whole story. The hope of the gospel isn't that every loss will make sense or every disappointment will be resolved. It's that through Jesus, God has shown us His power to bring redemption out of even the darkest circumstances. Because grief doesn't get the final word. Jesus does. So if life hasn't gone the way you imagined, don't close the book in chapter one. God isn't finished.

    Stay Here | Vision Series 2026Scripture: Mark 14v32-34 Who really knows you? Not just your name, your strengths, or the version of yourself you show the world—but the places where you're hurting, struggling, and afraid? We can be surrounded by people and still feel incredibly alone. But what if the community Jesus invites us into is about more than friendship? What if the goal of community is connection and healing? In Mark 14:32–34, we find Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, overwhelmed with sorrow and facing the darkest moment of His life. Rather than isolating Himself, Jesus invites His closest friends into His pain with two simple words: “Stay here.” In this message, Michael Newton explores why we were never meant to walk through life alone and how genuine community offers both comfort and challenge. It's not about finding people who always agree with us or tell us what we want to hear. It's about finding people who love us enough to sit with us in our pain, speak truth with grace, and help us become more like Jesus. Sometimes healing doesn't begin with someone having the perfect answer. Sometimes it begins when someone simply says, “I'm here with you.” Maybe the invitation isn't to find more friends, but to go deeper with the people God has already placed around us. Because Jesus needed community, and so do we. Stay Here.

In Luke 6:46–49, Jesus asks, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” He gives us a picture of two houses—one built on a foundation and one without. The difference isn’t simply what they heard. It’s what they put into practice. But practicing the way of Jesus doesn’t mean becoming perfect. It means being willing to try, fail, own it, receive grace, and try again. In this message, Michael Newton explores what it looks like to follow Jesus through the ordinary practices of forgiveness, serving, and making disciples, while learning to live from the security of God’s love rather than fear of failure. You don't have to follow Jesus perfectly. You simply have to keep following.

As followers of Jesus, we’re called to care about those needs. But what happens when meeting physical and practical needs isn’t enough? In Romans 1:16–17, Paul reminds us that the gospel is “the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” In this message, Michael Newton explores why people don’t simply need a better life, better relationships, or better habits—they need Jesus. Like a tree that can look healthy on the outside while decaying at its core, we can build lives that appear strong while something deeper is broken. The gospel meets us there—not with another self-help strategy or a call to simply try harder, but with the good news of Jesus: forgiveness, reconciliation, new life, and relationship with God. The mission of the church isn’t to stop caring for people’s practical needs. We keep serving, loving, feeding, listening, and showing up—but we don’t stop there. Because ultimately, people need Jesus. Give Them Jesus.

    God’s Heart Is Bigger Than Ours | The book of Jonah Scripture: Jonah 4v5-11 What happens when God shows compassion to the people we think deserve judgment? In the final chapter of Jonah, Jonah sits on a hill waiting for Nineveh to be destroyed, while God uses a plant, a worm, and a scorching wind to expose Jonah’s heart. Jonah cares deeply about his comfort—but God cares deeply about people. This message challenges us to ask: Who is our Nineveh? Who have we written off, judged, or decided is beyond God’s mercy? As we look at Jonah’s struggle with compassion, we ultimately see the heart of Jesus—a Savior who didn’t come to condemn His enemies, but to give His life for them. Because of Jesus, we can come to God honestly, receive His mercy, and allow Him to reshape our hearts to love the people He loves.
