    A troubled marriage. A suspicious disappearance. A husband with a story that just wasn't adding up. And one VERY important piece of heavy machinery. This week, Brooklyn tells Heather the gruesome true crime story of Helle Crafts and Richard Crafts — a case so disturbing it became one of Connecticut's most infamous murders. In November 1986, Helle Crafts, a Danish-born flight attendant and mother of three, suddenly disappeared from her Newtown, Connecticut home. Her husband, Richard Crafts, had explanations for where she had gone... but the people who loved Helle weren't buying them. Especially because Helle had already told friends exactly who they should look at if anything ever happened to her. As investigators began digging into the Crafts' marriage, Richard's behavior, and some VERY suspicious activity around the time Helle vanished, this missing-person case turned into something much darker. And then came the snowplow driver. What he remembered seeing during a winter storm would help unravel one of the most gruesome and unforgettable murder cases in true crime history. In 2006, Susan came home from work to her Portland, Oregon home and found a stranger waiting inside. What happened next was a fight for survival — and Susan quickly proved this man had picked the WRONG damn woman. But surviving the attack was only the beginning. Police identified the intruder as Edward Haffey, and the investigation led them somewhere much closer to Susan than anyone expected: her estranged husband, Michael Kuhnhausen. This case has an attempted murder-for-hire plot, a husband with a truly terrible plan, one seriously underestimated woman, and a survivor who absolutely refused to go down without a fight.
