    Overdue Homework Sidekicks 1992

    In Sidekicks, an asthmatic kid named Barry survives middle school by imagining he’s best friends with Chuck Norris—which is honestly a better coping mechanism than therapy. In real life he gets bullied by a guy who looks legally old enough to refinance a mortgage, but in his head he’s roundhouse-kicking ninjas like a junior action star. A kindly karate teacher (played by Mako) tries to turn those fantasies into actual confidence, mostly by steering him toward the most inevitable 90s solution: a karate tournament. In the end, Barry learns to believe in himself… and is rewarded when Chuck Norris shows up in real life to personally confirm that yes, this kid is now cool.     Overdue Homework Surf Ninjas 1993

    Two California surfer bros discover they’re actually long-lost princes destined to liberate a tropical island, which is exactly as responsible as it sounds. Armed with surfboards, bad 90s slang, and a kid who can see the future through a Game Gear (because of course he can), they take on an evil dictator who somehow loses to teenagers who say “rad” unironically.     Demolition Man imagines a future where crime is illegal, swearing is fined, and Taco Bell somehow wins the franchise wars. Sylvester Stallone’s frozen 90s action cop is thawed out to punch problems that polite society is emotionally unprepared to handle. Wesley Snipes chews scenery as a cartoonishly violent criminal who treats the future like a playground with better lighting. The result is a bizarre, self-aware action movie that lectures you about conformity while things explode. It’s basically *The Karate Kid* on wheels, but with more windbreaker energy and less dignity.     Overdue Homework Total Recall 1990

    In Total Recall (1990), Arnold Schwarzenegger pays for a fun fake vacation and accidentally upgrades to an identity crisis with free brain surgery. Mars turns out to be a red dirt hellscape where everyone’s either a secret agent, a corporate thug, or rocking a bonus mutant limb. Reality bends so hard it snaps, but Arnold solves every existential question the same way: by shooting it. By the end, you’re still not sure what’s real—except that Quaid’s vacation package had a very generous violence clause.     Clark Griswold once again proves that the true spirit of Christmas is blind optimism mixed with catastrophic home-owner negligence. As his house becomes a magnet for electrical fires, feral squirrels, and uninvited relatives, Clark clings to the dream of a “fun old-fashioned family Christmas” like a man who’s never met his own family.
