David Bruton Jr.: From Super Bowl Champion to Physical Therapist

This week on After the Athlete, we’re joined by David Bruton Jr., former Denver Broncos safety, special teams playmaker, Super Bowl 50 champion, and Doctor of Physical Therapy! David spent eight seasons in the NFL before taking a new direction, returning to school to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and eventually becoming a practice owner. He was also named the Denver Broncos' 2015 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his impact off the field. We talk about his journey through the NFL, what it was like being part of a Super Bowl championship team, the injury that impacted that year, and his transition into life after football. David shares how he found a new path through physical therapy, the importance of giving back through Bruton’s Books, and what it means to build an identity beyond the sport that once defined so much of his life. Tune in for a conversation about life after football, finding purpose beyond sports, and what comes next when your playing career ends. Enjoy!
