Elijah | God Is Still At Work - Season 5, Episode 115

What happens when a faithful servant reaches the end of himself? Fresh from fire on Mount Carmel, Elijah sits alone under a juniper tree, praying to die. Preaching from 1 Kings 19, Pastor Andrew Calabrese shows how God meets His weary prophet with food and rest, speaks to him in a still small voice, and reveals a work far larger than Elijah could see. Using a poster board with a small window cut through it, he illustrates how a limited perspective breeds despair, while God sees the whole picture, including seven thousand who never bowed to Baal. Listeners are challenged to receive God's care, listen to His Word, and take the next faithful step, trusting that God is still at work. James | Taming the Tongue - Season 5, Episode 114

Talk may be cheap, but are our words ever truly harmless? Preaching from James 3:1-12, Pastor Dorrell examines the disproportionate power of the tongue: a small bit that turns a horse, a small helm that steers a ship, a single spark that sets a forest ablaze. He confronts the hypocrisy of blessing God while cursing people made in His image, and he applies James's warning to the words we type and post online, where every reader makes us a teacher with greater accountability. Because the tongue is only the bucket and the heart is the well, real change must begin within. Listeners are challenged to filter their words, speak life into their homes and church, and bring every thought captive to Christ. Colossians | Follow After Christ - Season 5, Episode 113

Why do sincere believers so often rest their security on rules, tribes, and checklists rather than on Christ? Preaching from Colossians 2:16-23, Pastor Dorrell examines how self-appointed spiritual umpires in Colossae turned dietary laws and holy days into tests of belonging. Paul calls these things a shadow; the substance is Christ. The sermon confronts two opposite ditches: a legalism and authoritarianism that measure holiness by external standards, and a license that treats grace as permission for the flesh. Biblical standards still belong in the Christian life, but as personal guardrails that protect the heart, not as measuring sticks for judging others. Listeners are challenged to bring their convictions into the light of God's Word, remove boundary markers Christ never built, and rest in his sufficiency. Elijah | Halting Between Two Opinions - Season 5, Episode 112

Are you trying to keep one foot in God's kingdom and one foot in the world? Many believers affirm the Lord on Sunday while quietly trusting the culture for security, approval, and moral direction. Pastor Dorrell examines 1 Kings 18:17-40, where Elijah confronts a nation limping between Yahweh and Baal and calls them to decision on Mount Carmel. He illuminates the powerlessness of the world's idols and the grace of a God whose fire falls on the substitute rather than the compromised people, pointing to the cross of Christ. Listeners are challenged to end their hesitation, repair the altar of prayer and Scripture, and follow the true God with full commitment. James | The Fruit of Faith - Season 5, Episode 111

Can a person claim faith in Christ while nothing about their life ever changes? Many assume that correct doctrine and a sincere profession are proof enough of salvation. Pastor Dorrell examines James 2:14-26, where James confronts an empty confession that offers words without deeds and that believes the facts yet refuses to surrender. Through the examples of Abraham and Rahab, he shows how Paul and James agree: we are saved by grace through faith alone, but genuine faith never stays alone. It bears fruit, interrupts selfishness, and moves from the lips to the hands. Listeners are challenged to examine themselves honestly and ask whether their faith has truly changed how they live, give, and serve. Colossians | Christ Plus Nothing is Required - Season 5, Episode 110

Why do so many believers who hold the riches of Christ still live as if they need something more to be whole? Preaching from Colossians 2:1-15, Pastor Dorrell confronts the "Jesus plus" mindset: the quiet belief that Christ saves us for eternity, but daily life also takes wealth, political ideology, therapeutic self-help, or man-made standards. He shows that all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ and that all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Him. He also shows that through His finished work our debt is blotted out and every hostile power is disarmed. Listeners are challenged to reject the world's hollow philosophies, to stop going back into bondage, and to walk in Christ with contentment and joy, resting in the truth that they are complete in Him. Elijah | Obadiah - Season 5, Episode 109

How does a believer stay faithful while working inside a hostile, corrupt system? Examining the account of Obadiah before Elijah's showdown on Mount Carmel, Pastor Dorrell illuminates how this quiet official risked his life hiding a hundred prophets while serving in wicked King Ahab's court. He shows that Obadiah's courage was not the absence of fear but trembling obedience anyway, and that God strategically positions believers in secular, even hostile, environments to act as agents of preservation. Listeners are challenged to see their own workplace, school, or neighborhood as a divine assignment and to serve faithfully there rather than waiting for a more comfortable setting. James | The Royal Law - Season 5, Episode 108

Why do we instinctively size people up by their clothes, income, or influence before we ever get to know them? Examining James 2, Pastor Dorrell confronts the sin of favoritism, showing how welcoming the wealthy while dismissing the poor contradicts genuine faith in Christ. He illuminates James's teaching that God's economy inverts the world's, choosing the poor to be rich in faith, and calls believers to love their neighbor without partiality since grace levels everyone at the foot of the cross. Listeners are challenged to audit who they gravitate toward on Sundays and extend genuine hospitality to those who cannot repay them.
