🤘Thursday, September 17th, 2026, I’ll be joined by none other than Gonzalo “Gonzo” Sandoval, founding member and legendary drummer of Armored Saint, for an exclusive conversation about his incredible musical journey, the history of Armored Saint, and what’s happening today in the world of Gonzo Sandoval. Formed in the early 1980s, Armored Saint grew out of a high-school rock band called Royal Decree, featuring brothers Felipe “Phil” Sandoval on guitar and Gonzalo “Gonzo” Sandoval on drums, alongside guitarist Dave Prichard, bassist Joey Vera, and lead vocalist John Bush. According to Gonzo, the name “Armored Saint” came to him after watching the classic film Excalibur at a local movie theater parking lot in Monterey Park, California. From that moment, the foundation was laid for what would become one of Heavy Metal’s most respected bands. In 1984, Armored Saint released their debut album, March of the Saint, which produced the memorable MTV hit “Can U Deliver?” The band continued to make its mark throughout the 1980s, touring and sharing stages with some of the biggest names in Heavy Metal and Rock & Roll history, including Judas Priest, Metallica, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, Saxon, Ratt, Testament, Exodus, W.A.S.P., Dio, Accept, Fates Warning, Y&T, Grim Reaper, Malice, King Diamond, Great White, Stryper, Leatherwolf, Lizzy Borden, and many more. And believe me… I could go on!But let’s save the good stuff for the interview! 🎸Dean Von Music Podcast Show🎸 Live from Las Vegas, Nevada🔥 Heavy Metal & Rock & Roll - The Stories Behind the Music.
