Season 3 - Episode 6 - Brain and Bugs

On this episode of Pint of Science Ireland, Anastasia speaks with Dr. Jatin Nagpal, Lecturer at University College Cork and Group Leader at APC Microbiome Ireland, about how gut microbes shape behaviour across species. They discuss how animal models like zebrafish and nematodes are useful and practical for preclinical studies, and to understand the gut-brain connection in humans better. Dr. Nagpal highlights the importance of causality studies and looking at organ systems holistically. Grab a pint and enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Season 3 - Episode 1 - Making A Giant Cup of Green Tea with Dr. Eoin Syron

In this podcast, Paul from the Pint of Science Ireland Podcast Team, chats with Dr. Eoin Syron from the University College of Dublin. They discuss chemical engineering concepts such as "green molecules for green energy", one of Dr. Syron's research topics of interest. They also converse about research methods, scale up of sustainable energy systems and Ireland's current energy systems! Eoin compares chemical engineering to making a giant cup of tea! This is a brilliant analogy describing the workings of a chemical engineer in a relatable way. We hope you enjoy the podcast as we jump from "what does a chemical engineer do?" to "green molecules for green energy" and "lunch box reactors".
