The Amazing Podcast | Jay-Z Picked Himself and Nobody's Happy

In this episode Howard and Bert are not feeling the Jay-Z Super Bowl pick at all. After seven years of picking everybody else's halftime show, he picked himself for Super Bowl LXI — and the guys call it a letdown. Sabrina Carpenter and Ella Langley aren't big enough, there's no real up-and-coming talent left, so the question becomes: why not Chris Brown? His tour is selling out, he dances, he sings, he'd entertain. The guys run through who should have gotten the stage instead. On the NBA side, LeBron finally looked old against Indiana — and it took 24 years to say it. The Spurs are the opposite story: Wemby dropped a season-high 43 with Dylan Harper adding 25 in a fourth straight win, and now they go for five straight against a short-handed Utah team. Plus the injury report that keeps reshaping games — Minnesota was already missing Edwards, DiVincenzo, and Gobert, and Utah comes in without Jaren Jackson Jr. and Nurkić. College football: every game from here is a season-defining game. Texas has to win out. The Longhorns are 6-2 and back in the top 10 after the 31–3 rout of Mississippi State, but those two losses — Oklahoma and Florida, both after blowing double-digit leads — left zero margin. The remaining schedule is brutal: at No. 19 Missouri this Saturday at 11 AM CT, then at LSU, home against Arkansas, and at Texas A&M on November 27. One more loss and the playoff dream is almost certainly dead; run the table and they're in. And hanging over all of it is Arch — this is the year everyone expected to be his last in Austin, and every throw now feeds the same debate: is he still the future No. 1 pick, or has his draft stock really slipped out of the first round? The rumors follow him into every single game. USC just bought Lincoln Riley time — but only a little. A week ago, after the lifeless 24–7 loss at Wisconsin, Riley's seat was as hot as it's ever been. Then the Trojans stunned No. 2 Ohio State 30–18, Riley's first win over a top-five team in five years at USC. The Trojans are 7-2 and alive in the playoff race, and if they win out, they're in. But the seat is still warm, not cool — a loss at No. 4 Indiana on November 14 and all the same questions come right back. Every game is now a referendum on whether Riley is the guy. And Deion might be coaching for his job at Colorado. The Buffs finally snapped their five-game losing streak with the 27–24 overtime win over Kansas State, but they're still 3-5 and need three wins in their last four just to make a bowl. Two straight losing seasons after a $54 million extension has put Coach Prime squarely on the hot-seat lists — the only thing really protecting him is a $26.1 million buyout. With the quarterback carousel still spinning and the schedule offering no relief, every remaining game is about whether Deion is still on that sideline in 2027. Let us know who you think should have gotten the halftime show.
