Episode #233: Principles Over Expediency W/Dr. Chase Spears

For those who listen to the podcast regularly it comes as nosurprises that I am sometimes embarrassingly patriotic and passionate about America’s founding principles. With that said it naturally follows that I am pretty interested in how our young men are treated inside the United States Armed Services, and that is where this week’s guest Chase Spears comes in. Dr. Chase Spears is a combat veteran who served as a U.S.Army public affairs officer for 20 years, retiring from Fort Leavenworth on October 1, 2023. During the course of our conversation, we talk about his time in the United States Armed Service and how over time he consistently saw how our service members rights were frustrated by far-left ideologies that have crept in to our Armed Forces which ultimately led to him turning down a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel and chose to depart military service as a Major believing that he could serve the nation’s defense more effectively in a civilian capacity. Chase is the recipient of awards from the Command and General Staff College, Georgetown University, the International Public Relations Research Association, the interdisciplinary national honor society Phi Kappa Phi, and the International Association of Business Communicators (Kansas City chapter). Chase is passionate about holding the militaryaccountable to its Constitutional purpose. He is widely published on civil-military and political topics in publications that include The American Mind, Real Clear Defense, The Washington Post, and The Baltimore Sun. He has alsoauthored chapters about communication professionalism in two books. Chase is often sought out for expert perspective by media organizations including News Nation, The Gateway Pundit, and American Family News.   Chase is also the host of Finding Your Spine Podcast which challenges the status quo. The podcast explores how Christians—and even secular conservatives—can stand firm in their values amid the pressures of cancel culture. Withinsightful commentary and bold conversations, Dr. Spears examines the tradeoff many make between conscience and comfort, reminding listeners that true freedom requires the spine to defend it. Tune in each week for thought-provokingdiscussions that inspire moral courage in an age of compromise.  MormonLegacy Ministries: mormonlegacy.org  5000Year Leap Class: mormonlegacy.org/5000  Dr. Chase Spears – Leader | Communicator |Adventurer

Episode #231: The Books of Enoch Part 1 W/Ken Peterson

WARNING! BECAUSE OF SOME THINGS THAT ENOCH SEES IN OUR DAY CONCERNING CERTAIN LIFSTYLES THIS MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN!! There are some figures in the scriptures that are mentioned that we don't know a lot about. One of those figures is the prophet, Enoch. We know some things but historically not a ton. When Joseph Smith received the Book of Moses there was more light shed on this ancient prophet, and then with the discovery of some texts of the book as well as the Dead Sea Scrolls, we received a lot more. Now if I have to go wade through the Apocrypha to find information on Enoch thereis really only one guy to talk to, and that is Ken Peterson. Ken has been on the show quite a few times so we are all familiar with who he is. I mean he literally wrote the book Mormonism in the Apocrypha. This will be part one of a two part series. In this episode we first dive into the history of the threebooks of Enoch. We find out how they were discovered, who discovered them, tradition surrounding the books, then plunge head long into Enoch one and make it almost all the way through as we discover some fascinating doctrine thatseems to support Joseph Smith’s teachings in the Restoration as well as some things that seem to point to that Enoch saw our day. From there we wrap up this first episode but next week you will want to tune in for part two of thisconversation where we dive even deeper into books two and three of Enoch and find some really mind-blowing stuff for Mormons.    MormonLegacy Ministries: mormonlegacy.org   5000Year Leap Class: mormonlegacy.org/5000
