    There is no doubt that when embarking on pioneering activities in recycling textiles, as discussed in the first part of our podcast, the cooperation between technology supplier and producer is essential.

    ANDRITZ has partnered with two highly ambitious new companies in the business of textile recycling, the Infinited Fiber Company in Finland, and Circ in the US.

    In the second part of our podcast series on Textile Recycling, we talk to Tanja Karila, Chief Marketing Officer, the Infinited Fiber Company and Julie Willoughby, Chief Scientific Officer at Circ. We will also be joined by the experts Jorma Latva-Kokko and Hannu Ramark of ANDRITZ.

    The discussion centers around the different types of textiles being recycled by both companies, the technology being used and the exciting opportunities being presented in this burgeoning new sector.

Now we are seeing a sea change in the approach to new, more environmentally friendly textiles recycled from the mass of existing ones.

    Pulp mills are getting bigger, faster, and more efficient. Today a full-size drying line can handle a web width of over 10 meters. ANDRITZ drying lines have come a long way in a short space of time to keep up with the fast evolution taking place in pulp mills.

    Fredrik Fors, Product Manager, Pulp Drying at ANDRITZ says, “In our development work we thought we were aiming at the sky targeting a capacity of at least 5,000 tons per day, that´s almost 50% more than we had ever built before. Today, we see that customers are already challenging us with this figure and even more.”
