In 1979, Howard Pittman, former policeman and subsequent Baptist minister, suffered a medical emergency and was clinically dead for fifteen minutes. While dead, he was tempted by Satan. Upon rejecting Satan's advances, angels took Pittman on a tour of Second Heaven, kind of like a double of our world, but full of demons. He also got to talk to God (unimpressed with Pittman's life). Pittman's journey was detailed in his 1999 book, Placebo. As many people who read and enjoyed Placebo wished to know more about the demons Pittman encountered, he wrote Demons: an Eyewitness Account, where he gives much (much!) more information about all the demons he saw, including demonic power hierarchies, physical descriptions, behavioural descriptions, and more.
