ShoutOut ListenIn is a brand new podcast series from ShoutOut, a charity committed to improving life for LGBTQ+ people by sharing personal stories and delivering educational workshops in schools and workplaces on LGBTQ+ issues. With this series ShoutOut continues its work shouting out and educating about all things LGBTQ+. We hear from LGBTQ+ educators and others about their experiences and the state of play of LGBTQ+ education in Ireland and further afield, among them some of ShoutOut's own volunteers, founders and friends.

    Episode 37: Hidden LGBTQIA+ History at the National Museum with Dr El Reid-Buckley

    What hidden LGBTQIA+ stories lie within Ireland’s national collections?In this episode, Dr El Reid-Buckley (UCD School of Computer Science) speaks with Ruadhán Ó Críodáin, Executive Director of ShoutOut, about the creation of the LGBTQIA+ tour at the National Museum of Ireland, Collins Barracks. Together they explore the often overlooked histories of queer life in Ireland, the importance of representation in museums, and how cultural institutions can help bring these stories into the public eye.Dr Reid-Buckley also shares some of their favourite objects from the museum’s collection and the powerful histories behind them.Content note: This episode includes discussion of sensitive topics.     As we wrap up for the year, we are wishing everyone a gentle and safe holiday period! We are grateful for everyone and anyone who has engaged with Shout Out this year! To close out Shout Out Listen In for 2025, volunteer Jenny (she/her) sat down with the Shout Out team for a special, festive episode. In a time when there is a lot of discrimination and pushback towards the LGBTQ+ community, organisations such as Shout Out are vital, and Jenny wanted to highlight the positive and inspiring personalities of the incredible team who work tirelessly at Shout Out.

    Episode 35: Asexuality: Identity, Community and Healthcare

    During Asexual Awareness Week, ShoutOut volunteer Jenny met with Ashley and Sabine from Outhouse's Ace & Aro Group, and Aiden who is the Events Chair, with RCSI's student Pride Society.
