Every Thought Captive

I am currently converting into Othodoxy from very missional-focused Protestantism. One of the things I value most about the Gospel is how it is designed to be contextualized and shared across all cultures. One of things I’ve really hoped to translate into my new faith is evangelism and cultural engagement. This Podcast is helping me do just that! I just hope they release more often.

As one enquiring into Orthodoxy from a varied Christian background (Southern Baptist; Roman Catholic), I find this podcast very edifying. Though I, like the host, enjoy tangents of scholastic theology, he and his guests are good about outlining ways in which to apply beliefs to our daily thoughts and practices as members of the Church.

A great start! I’m looking forward to what the future holds for this podcast. Brass tacks conversations about Orthodoxy in our modern setting and the multitude of challenges that face us that are in many ways old and yet also unique to the times in which we find ourselves. We don’t need new truth or teaching, but we do need to learn how to apply the ancient Faith to our modern lives.

This podcast gets down to where the rubber meets the road, to where our Orthodoxy intersects with our lives. It directly addresses the challenge of being Orthodox in a profoundly non-Orthodox world. It reminds us that the faith is still, as St. Paul told us, folly to the Greeks and a stumbling block to the Jews, i.e., nonsense to those who have no faith and a challenge to those who have some kind of faith. I look forward eagerly to future podcasts because I need all the help I can get in wrestling with this problem. Thank you, Father Daniel!
