Lively, intelligent, and humorous retellings
I have been meaning to read Investiture of the Gods for years but have never gotten around to it. John Zhou’s narration is engaging and full of wry modern commentary to lighten things up and keep them entertaining. I’m hoping my kids will also take to following his show.
A podcast of epic proportions!
OMG! John Zhou is a treasure. Spit takes and coffee spills aside, I love his work. Love his puckish sense of humor. Love the stories!!! Got hooked on his amazing Romance of the Three Kingdoms pod/performance, and have begun Water Margin. I cannot say enough here. Simply extraordinary fun (and RotTK is hundreds of years old, from a culture not familiar to us in America). His retelling is well-paced, thoroughly researched to maximize our understanding of all the allusions and morés and I believe he captures the excitement of the story as intended. Love, love, love this podcaster.
Dream of the Red Chamber maybe?????
Storytelling Master
Who would imagine a four-hundred-year-old novel could be so engrossing?! This is told by a storyteller who makes it as vivid as contemporary anime.
