For Art Glider's final episode of Season 2 'The Lightbulb Moment' we chat with Alice McAuliffe, a creative producer who has worked in the arts and cultural sector for over twenty years. She has undertaken projects for a variety of institutions, galleries and grassroots organizations in Australia and internationally.  Alice's work develops and implements art projects and programming, often outside of the gallery context, to bring art, artists and people together in the creative process. This work aims to empower participants and activate spaces for community benefit. Previously, she has initiated UTS ART Live, a series of temporal arts performances developed collaboratively by university students and contemporary artists, and the Warrabura Nura garden, a permanent installation of Indigenous medicinal plants and accompanying resources to connect audiences with Country within the urban environment. Alice is currently an art curator at St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney, implementing a patient-centred arts health program across the hospital and ancillary spaces.

Using deep listening and intuitive art-making, Elise helps her clients to make sense of and see their own life stories through a new lens. Elise Slater has had a career facilitating lightbulb moments, from her work as a Trend Forecaster in London where she was tasked with predicting future design trends to inspire creative industries, to mentoring design students in Sydney to come up with radical concepts for social enterprises and new businesses.  In this episode, we discuss Slater's own light bulb moment that came on a hill in India, when both her social enterprise craft project was born and she realised her calling to become an Art Therapist. That was the beginning of the Live Softly Art Therapy Studio in Sydney and the Live Softly Nepal Craft Project.

In this episode, we chat with Jeff McCann, a Sydney/Gadigal-based creative who works between the visual and performing arts through a wide range of mediums including public art, illustration and artwork licensing, workshops and product design. Their innovative practice strives to create inclusive work that encourages their audience to get involved. McCann's choice to work with primarily recycled materials like cardboard, creates a playful and tactile quality to his work. Jeff enjoys the challenge of taking what is considered “rubbish” and transforming it into something new and of value again. McCann's illustrative style draws inspiration from childhood nostalgia, world building, games and the natural environment. Utilising pattern, colour and surreal composition to create work that is energetic, bold and confident.  Jeff’s previous clients include The Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), The City of Sydney, Westfield Scentre Group and Wear It Purple.

Attafuah creates surreal cyber dreamscapes and heavenly wastelands, populated by afro-futuristic abstractions of self with strong ancestral and contemporary themes.  Attafuah has collaborated with and been commissioned by clients including Mercedes Benz, Nike, GQ, Adobe, Paris Hilton, Charli XCX and Art Pharmacy. Recent notable achievements include her participation in Sotheby's 'Natively Digital': A Curated NFT auction and 'Apotheosis': a live motion capture experience with Soft Centre at The Sydney Opera House.

In this captivating episode, Leutwyler walks us through their art-making journey and empowering subject matter. Born in America, Sydney-based Kim Leutwyler migrated to Australia in 2012. She works in a variety of media including painting, installation, ceramics, printmedia and drawing. Leutwyler's current body of work features paintings exploring notions of beauty, gender and queer identity. Her artwork has been exhibited in multiple galleries and museums throughout Australia and the United States. Some of Leutwyler's recent accolades include being selected as a finalist in the Archibald and Sulman Prizes, the Doug Moran Portrait Prize as well as the Portia Geach Memorial Award.
