Tired of Just Surviving? Take Your Energy and Your Life Back

You’re waking up wondering how you’ll face your boss, your family, or another meeting when you barely have enough energy to function. You keep saying yes because you’re afraid of getting in trouble. You’re trying to fit into places you’ve outgrown. Where, in all of that, did you lose yourself? In this episode, I’m sharing how performing for acceptance cost me my energy, and what changed when I stopped shaping my voice around what other people wanted to hear. I talk about relationships that faded when I stopped showing up the way people expected, and why I’m choosing boundaries over giving everyone access to me. I also share the painful contradiction I experienced growing up in foster care: foster parents who carried Bibles and attended church while abusing children behind closed doors. Reclaiming my voice means speaking about what happened to me, even when people would rather defend the institution than hear my experience. Then we get into celebration. Growing up, celebration came with strings attached. Now, I’m reclaiming the ability to enjoy my coffee, acknowledge a tough conversation, celebrate using my voice, and accept a compliment without putting myself down. If Monday fills you with dread, what is it reminding you of? Where have you settled, silenced yourself, or stopped making room for what you enjoy? Listen, choose one thing you can put into practice, and share this episode with someone who needs permission to choose themselves again. The Hidden Cost of Proving Your Worth: How Celebrating Yourself Helps You Reclaim Your Voice

When was the last time you celebrated yourself without waiting for someone else’s permission? Growing up in foster care, I learned what it felt like to have my voice ignored, criticized, and labeled. For years, I carried those messages with me. I pushed myself to prove my worth, downplayed what I had survived, and struggled to see my own progress. In this episode, I share why celebrating myself became part of reclaiming the voice I was once taught had no value. I also talk about something I have been afraid to share openly: the painful details of my foster care story. Telling the truth about what happened does not mean I am stuck in it. Every time I speak and celebrate how far I have come, I reclaim another part of myself. That includes celebrating this podcast. In this recording, I share that Energy First Leadership Studio reached 1,015 streams after crossing 1,000 streams in six months. My most played episode has now reached 126 downloads in three months and continues to be played daily. I celebrate those numbers because each listen means a voice I once believed was worthless is being heard. This conversation is for the person who is burned out from proving themselves, who overlooks their own hard work, or who is waiting for somebody else to say they matter. We talk about self worth, identity, healing after foster care, finding your voice, and why even a small celebration can help you see yourself differently. I also speak directly to foster parents and foster care agencies about what children and teenagers need beyond food, clothes, and a bed. They need safety. They need to be heard. They need to know they matter. Chapters: 00:00 Why I am telling this story 02:44 The fear of sharing my foster care experience 04:36 Who I am speaking to 07:16 The hard work we forget to celebrate 08:10 Your permission to celebrate yourself 11:03 Why I celebrate every podcast listen 14:10 What happened when I spoke up in foster care 18:53 Reclaiming myself each time I share my story 20:56 A message for the person I was ten years ago 25:33 Celebration, encouragement, and gratitude 25:57 What foster parents and agencies need to hear 31:49 Choosing to heal and celebrate how far I have come 33:14 Share this message with someone who needs it DO NOT JUST LISTEN AND MOVE ON. Name one thing you made it through and celebrate yourself for it today. Then share this episode with a friend, a foster parent, or a foster care agency. The Hidden Cost of Proving Your Worth to People Who Already Judged You

What happens when you walk into a room expecting to be judged, but you no longer need anyone there to decide your worth? 00:00 For anyone who’s done proving their worth 03:23 Letting go of someone else’s blueprint 06:34 Ripping off the bandage and freeing my voice 08:37 Recognizing patterns from foster care in my adult life 11:07 How labels shaped my identity 14:11 Walking into the meeting knowing my value 17:30 How healing helped me recognize the pattern 20:24 I don’t have to fight from that old place anymore 24:53 Passing you the baton to find your worth 26:20 One action you can take today On September 17, 2026, I sat in a difficult workplace meeting with five people. I recognized a familiar pattern: being questioned and feeling as though others had already made up their minds about me. But this time, I showed up differently. I knew my value before I entered the room, and I didn’t have to perform or plead to be heard. Growing up in foster care, I often felt labeled, silenced, and treated as guilty before anyone listened to my side. Those experiences shaped how I responded to authority and how hard I fought to prove myself as an adult. In this episode, I share how I recognized that pattern at work and what changed when I stopped looking to other people for validation. We talk about foster care, identity, workplace leadership, faith, healing, and the exhaustion of trying to earn a place in rooms that refuse to see you clearly. If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, burned out from proving yourself, or pressured to shrink who you are to belong, I want you to hear this: someone else’s judgment does not determine your worth. I’m passing you the baton. You can begin choosing yourself today. LISTEN TO THE EPISODE. THEN TAKE ONE ACTION: Write down a belief about yourself that you’ve been carrying because of how someone treated you. Ask yourself whether it’s actually true. Burnout and Self Abandonment: What Pushing Through Is Really Costing You

What is pushing through actually costing you? We have been taught to ignore the red flags, shove down our feelings, override our bodies, and keep performing like exhausted little robots just to look successful. That is not success. In this episode, I’m speaking from my car before walking back into a workplace I have been healing from after nearly three weeks of medical leave. I’m talking about the very real cost of people pleasing, performing for safety, bypassing the truth, and abandoning yourself to keep everyone else comfortable. Growing up in foster care taught me how to push through, look the part, and perform to be accepted. Those survival patterns followed me into my career until my body finally said, “I cannot do this anymore.” Burnout is the symptom. The deeper problem is what we keep tolerating, denying, and sacrificing to prove our worth. We’re talking about workplace stress, boundaries, emotional bypassing, faith and fear, protecting your energy, and remembering who the hell you are beneath the pressure to perform. You do not have to keep paying the high cost of abandoning yourself to look successful. Listen, follow the show, and share this episode with someone who needs permission to stop pushing through. Burnout and Hustle Culture: How to Stop Proving Your Worth and Reclaim Your Joy

Why does resting feel wrong even when you know you have done enough? Burnout is the symptom. The real problem is how we have been trained to live. Overworking. Overthinking. People pleasing. Proving. Performing. Staying attached to jobs, routines, expectations, and environments that keep us overloaded, exhausted, and disconnected from ourselves. In this episode, I’m calling out the patterns behind burnout and hustle culture. These patterns follow us into our careers, relationships, routines, and the way we show up online. We keep doing what everyone else is doing, silence what makes us different, and then wonder why we feel frazzled, miserable, and completely detached from our joy. Enough. You are allowed to stop. You are allowed to rest without earning it. You are allowed to change your routine, have some damn fun, and create success without abandoning yourself. This is the heart of From Frazzled to Unicorn. Breaking the patterns that keep you trapped in overload and exhaustion so you can reclaim your energy, identity, peace, joy, and balance. Listen if you are ready to stop treating burnout like the problem and start confronting what is actually creating it. From Foster Care to Workplace Burnout: I’m Done Proving My Worth

Are you exhausted from proving your worth at work? Listen to this episode and ask yourself: Who have I had to become to stay accepted, and what is that costing me? Foster care taught me to read the room, stay useful and silence myself to feel safe. Those survival patterns followed me into my career, where functioning under pressure looked like dedication while it was costing me my energy, identity and voice. In this episode of Energy First Leadership Studio™, I share the connection between my foster care story, workplace burnout and a culture that rewards people for pushing past their limits. I’m talking about what happens when speaking up gets you labeled difficult, when collaboration means compliance, and when being chosen becomes more important than being yourself. We get into: • How proving your worth and people pleasing can follow you into your career • The cost of staying silent to keep other people comfortable • A visualization I’ve used to reassure the younger version of myself and take back the wheel • Why forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting or giving someone access to you again • My Career Reclamation Blueprint and bringing boundaries, vision and intention into the job search • Recognizing leadership patterns that leave teams afraid to speak up For me, reclamation means separating who I am from who I had to become to survive. I’m sharing my story so you can recognize where those patterns might be showing up in your own life, career or business. Has this podcast helped you see something differently or make a change? Before You Say “F**k It, I’m Done”

What happens when you realize you cannot keep living, working, leading, or showing up the same way anymore? You stop pretending everything is fine and tell yourself the freaking truth. In this episode, Tiffany Quinones gets raw about what it looks like to be in the middle of a messy season where your energy is depleted, old patterns are becoming impossible to ignore, certain environments are costing you too much, and pushing through is no longer the answer. Because burnout doesn’t always mean you need to quit. Sometimes you need a timeout. A chance to step back, assess what’s actually happening, recognize what belongs to you and what doesn’t, and ask the uncomfortable questions: Why does this keep happening? What pattern am I repeating? Is this mine to carry? What am I tolerating that I no longer need to tolerate? And what needs to change before I completely lose myself? Tiffany shares what she is learning in real time about protecting her energy like Fort Knox, refusing to numb herself just to survive an environment, maintaining her character when it is challenged, and recognizing when it’s time to stop playing defense with your own life. This isn’t about forcing yourself to push harder. It’s about taking the timeout, going back to the war room, changing the play, and getting yourself back in the game without abandoning yourself to do it. You may be exhausted. You may need an off-season. You may even need to change the entire damn game. But you are not finished. If you know someone who is exhausted, burned out, questioning themselves, or quietly considering throwing in the towel, send them this episode. They might need someone in their ear reminding them that they still have another play.

Burnout Starts at the Top: What Is Your Leadership Costing Your Team?

What if your team doesn’t hate Mondays? What if they hate what Mondays have come to represent? Burnout. Chaos. Going through the motions. Performing for approval. Being measured by metrics while nobody bothers to ask who they are, what they need, or what actually makes them come alive at work. And eventually, people stop bringing their best selves to work because somewhere along the way, they learned that being themselves wasn’t enough. In this episode, Tiffany Quinones holds up the mirror to leaders, career women, business owners, and anyone responsible for setting the tone in a room. Because leadership without vision has a cost. When leaders show up without intention, their teams feel it. When toxic behavior is tolerated, good employees notice. When recognition becomes a superficial “good job” instead of genuinely knowing and appreciating the people behind the performance, engagement starts disappearing. And your best people may already be planning their exit. Tiffany gets candid about what more than three decades in the career world has taught her about burnout, leadership, employee engagement, self abandonment, and what happens when people spend years forcing themselves to fit environments they’ve outgrown. You’ll discover: • Why vision and intention matter in effective leadership • How leaders can unknowingly contribute to burnout and disengagement • Why tolerating toxic behavior can drive your best employees out • The difference between surviving at work and actually thriving • Why employee engagement goes far beyond pizza parties and surface level recognition • How people lose themselves trying to prove their worth at work • Why your energy affects the way you work, communicate, and lead • How knowing your people can completely change the culture of a team Leadership starts at the top. Your team feels what you tolerate. They feel what you ignore. They feel what you celebrate. And they absolutely feel the energy you bring into the room. So instead of only asking: “Is my team performing?” Maybe it’s time to ask: “What kind of environment am I creating for them to perform in?" 🔥 If this episode made you think about your workplace, your leadership, or the environment you’re helping create, don’t keep it to yourself.
