LIGHT Impact Season 3 Episode 4 | USMC to the NFL - Paul Quessenberry

Welcome back to LIGHT Impact! Nick Esayian sits down with Paul Quessenberry, Naval Academy graduate, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and former NFL tight end with the New England Patriots and Houston Texans. Paul followed in his father’s footsteps to the Naval Academy, where he played four seasons at defensive end for Navy. After graduating in 2015 and getting a tryout with the Texans, he commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps, completing the Infantry Officer Course and serving as a rifle platoon commander and weapons platoon commander before finishing his active duty as deputy director of 1st Marine Division Schools. All the while, he kept training in his free time. Five years after his last college snap, the Patriots signed him and moved him to tight end, and he went on to play for the Texans. Nick and Paul get into the unconventional path he took to break into the NFL, what playing football at the Naval Academy is really like, and how his time in the Marines and his two brothers, both NFL offensive linemen, helped shape him as a player and a leader. LIGHT Impact Season 2 | One Man Army - Joe Rafter

In this episode of LIGHT Impact, we sit down with Joe Rafter — the man who took on the California legislature and won. A lifelong youth football advocate and former coach, Joe earned the nickname "one-man army" after leading the charge to defeat Proposition AB 1, a bill that would have banned youth football across the entire state of California. Refusing to let the sport he loves be stripped from the next generation, Joe co-founded a coalition of passionate coaches and football staff, took their fight to the Capitol, and didn't stop until they had not only killed the ban, but replaced it with smart, structured safety guidelines built specifically to benefit young players. This is a story about more than football. It's about what happens when one person refuses to sit down and give up.  Joe is now CEO and President of the National Football Alliance (NFA), an advocacy organization dedicated to improving the tackle football experience through safety research, education, and strengthening the integrity of the game.
