What Faith Actually Means | Hebrews 11:1 Explained

What does faith actually mean in Hebrews 11:1? When Scripture says that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” it is describing something far deeper than positive thinking, wishing for a certain outcome, or simply trying to believe harder. Biblical faith begins with trust. It is a settled confidence in the character of God, believing that He is who He says He is and that He can be trusted with what He has said. In this message from Hebrews 10 and Hebrews 11, Pastor Trevor Hersey explores the biblical meaning of faith, substance, evidence, trust, and the promises of God, and shows why real faith eventually begins to affect the way we live. Through the examples of Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Peter, Lazarus, and practical stories from everyday life, we see that the substance of faith is trust becoming movement. What God has said begins to carry enough weight that it affects our decisions before we ever see the outcome. The evidence of faith is that deep conviction that says, “I know that I know that I know God is faithful,” and can even begin thanking Him before the answer becomes visible. But there is also an important distinction: biblical faith is not confidence that God will give us whatever we want simply because we believe strongly enough. Our faith rests in God, and our hope is rooted in what He has spoken, promised, revealed, and purposed. If you are trying to understand Hebrews 11:1, grow in your faith, learn how to trust God when you cannot see what He is doing, or discover what it means to truly live by faith, this message is for you. 🔗 Connect with Champion Church of St. Augustine, Florida - 📍Support the mission: https://championchurch.cc/give - 🌐 Website: https://championchurch.cc/ - 📚 41 Book: https://a.co/d/g6azVlw - 📱 Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/championchurch_/ - 📘 Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ChampionChurch.CC

    It's Time For Bold Action

What does bold faith actually look like? Bold action is not being reckless, impulsive, dramatic, or trying to do something impressive for God. Biblical boldness is taking a clear step of obedience to God, even when that step requires courage, risk, sacrifice, or pure trust. Sometimes God is asking you to move forward. Sometimes He is asking you to step before you can see what will happen. Sometimes the boldest thing you can do is stop something, commit to something, move toward someone you would normally avoid, or finally release someone you love into God's hands. In this message from Champion Church, Trevor Hersey walks through powerful examples of obedience and faith throughout Scripture, including Israel at the Red Sea in Exodus 14, the priests stepping into the Jordan River in Joshua 3, Elisha burning his plows in 1 Kings 19, Peter choosing to stay with Jesus in John 6, and Ananias obeying God by going to Saul in Acts 9. If you have been asking God what your next step is, waiting for perfect conditions, struggling to let go of something from an old season, or wondering how to know when God is leading you, this message is an invitation to stop waiting for the entire path to become clear and ask a simpler question: What is the next clear step of obedience God is asking me to take? 🔗 Connect with Champion Church of St. Augustine, Florida - 📍Support the mission: https://championchurch.cc/give - 🌐 Website: https://championchurch.cc/ - 📚 41 Book: https://a.co/d/g6azVlw - 📱 Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/championchurch_/ - 📘 Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ChampionChurch.CC

    Blacksmiths in the Land

What happens when there are no blacksmiths left in the land? In 1 Samuel 13, Israel finds itself facing an enemy without the people needed to forge, repair, and sharpen the tools and weapons they would carry into battle. In this message, Trevor Hersey explores this often overlooked passage of Scripture and shows how the work of a blacksmith gives us a powerful picture of Christian serving, discipleship, leadership, and what it means to use what God has placed in our hands for someone else. Serving is not always visible or celebrated. Sometimes it looks like standing in the hot, dry, thankless places, preparing something another person will eventually need for the battle in front of them. We also look at the things that can keep us from becoming these kinds of people, including fear, distraction, ignorance, and the spiritual opposition described in Ephesians 6. Whether you serve in church ministry, raise children, disciple students, care for people in need, welcome someone through a church door, or simply show up for someone during a difficult season, your faithfulness matters more than you may ever realize. This message also marks a special moment for Champion Church as Colby and Bristol are commissioned to lead the student ministry and continue the work of raising up the next generation. The world does not need fewer blacksmiths. It needs men and women willing to step into the fire, sharpen what God has entrusted to them, serve others faithfully, and put darkness on the run. 🔗 Connect with Champion Church of St. Augustine, Florida - 📍Support the mission: https://championchurch.cc/give - 🌐 Website: https://championchurch.cc/ - 📚 41 Book: https://a.co/d/g6azVlw - 📱 Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/championchurch_/ - 📘 Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ChampionChurch.CC
