    Episode 134: RB Kaegan Ash; QB J'Coryon Rivers; QB Trey Wright

    Send us Fan Mail The Texas High School Football Podcast Episode 134 Week 15 of the Texas High School football season and it the Semifinals of Playoffs! We are down to four teams in each division fighting for their chance to head to the State Championship in AT&T Stadium. This week Taylor has three guests that are all still fighting for a chance to head to the State Championship!  Kicking off Episode 134 is Mount Enterprise running back and Texas Tech commit Kaegan Ash, who is in the middle of one of the most remarkable seasons Texas high school football has ever seen. He just broke the single season rushing yards records that from 1953! A 72-year-old record! Kaegan talks about the record and his strong belief that the record is the teams as he did not do it alone. He also talks about the teams undefeated run, the mindset behind his team’s success, and what it felt like to break a state record that stood for more than seven decades. He shares the story behind his work ethic, the teammates who helped shape this historic year, and the lessons he’s learned from playing in a small but powerful program. Taylor and Kaegan dive into last week’s thrilling playoff win, the emotions of his senior season, and the memories he’ll carry long after high school. Kaegan also talks about his commitment to Texas Tech and what excites him most about the next chapter.  Then, Duncanville quarterback J’Coryon Rivers joins the show for a deep dive into his senior season, his sudden rise into the starting role, and the Panthers’ push toward another state title run.     Episode 133: RB Johnny Hebert; WR Tripp Davis

    Send us Fan Mail The Texas High School Football Podcast Episode 133 Week 14 of the Texas High School football season and it is Round 4 of the Playoffs!  This week Host Taylor Arenz sits down with one of the most productive running backs in the entire country Strake Jesuit star and University of Houston commit Johnny Hebert. Johnny reflects on a remarkable high school career that includes more than 3,500 rushing yards in a single season and another dominant senior year, all while balancing the academic rigor of Strake Jesuit. He talks about growing up in a competitive house with five brothers, developing his drive and discipline, and how faith, family, and academics have shaped who he is on and off the field. Taylor and Johnny dive into his recruiting journey, why UH felt like the perfect fit, and what it meant to stay home and represent Houston. With Strake Jesuit’s season complete, Johnny opens up about the emotions of closing this chapter, the moments he’ll carry with him, and the teammates who helped make his success possible. Then Taylor chats with Barbers Hill senior wide receiver Tripp Davis, one of the most explosive playmakers in Class 5A.     Send us Fan Mail  This Episode we are heading into the half way point of the Texas High School football playoffs, the part of the postseason where every team left has earned the right to be taken seriously. No warmups, no tune-ups, no easy outs and it is Thanksgiving week the team left fighting for a visit to AT&T are relishing in the fact they get to practice on Thanksgiving.  In honor of Thanksgiving we want to take a moment to thank all of you for the support and listening! We do not take it for granted and appreciate all of you for listening and supporting!  This week Host Taylor Arenz talks with two players from two of the biggest powerhouse teams in the state!  Kicking it off is with DeSoto star wide receiver Ethan “Boobie” Feaster. Boobie shares how football became his passion, the story behind his nickname, and why reclassifying was such a major decision for him academically and personally. We dig into DeSoto’s big win last week, how the team redeemed last year’s loss to Longview, and how this offense has come alive at the perfect time. They also talk about the DeSoto community, the people who support him, and what being part of this city means to him. Ethan reflects on the emotions of his final high school season and closes with powerful advice for younger athletes chasing the same dream. Then, Taylor chats with the young man at the helm of the almighty Southlake Carroll Dragons, Quarterback Angelo Renda. After an 11 week regular season where 59 out of one thousand two hundred and fifty Texas high school football teams went undefeated!! We now have the brackets set and playoff football is set to begin! It all starts fresh and it is decided on the field. Win and keep playing lose and your season is over it is the best part of Texas High School football season because it doesn’t matter where you were ranked if you’re in playoffs you want to win and teams give it their all! This week Host Taylor Arenz talks to two players who team are ranked high in the playoffs!  Kicking it off is Dripping Springs senior wide receiver Merrik Bloomgren  fresh off a history-making season. The Tigers just did what no Dripping Springs team had ever done: beat Westlake. Merrik takes us inside that unforgettable win, what this senior year has meant to him, and how fast his high school journey has flown by. They also talk team chemistry, the bond behind their success, and what it’s been like growing as a player and leader. Merrik also opens up about the recruiting process, what kind of program he hopes to be part of next, and shares advice for younger athletes chasing their own Friday night dreams. Then, Taylor talks with sits down with Yates High School Quarterback Chris Brown he’s a senior leading an undefeated Yates team. Taylor talks to Chris about how fast these four years flew by, and what it feels like to help bring the Lions their first perfect regular season since the mid-90s. They also dive into the night he put up one of the wildest performances in Texas high school football this year, talk through the heart of this team, and shine a light on the guys around him who make it all go. Chris shares his about senior emotions, leadership, recruiting, and what he wants the next generation at Yates to know.

    Episode 129: QB Kaine Hill; RB Cam Newton

    Send us Fan Mail Episode 129 is kicking off Week 11 of Texas High School football.  This is the final week of the 2025 regular season and many seniors final time to put on the pads.  It is a very emotional week for many. This week Host Taylor Arenz talks with two seniors who get to keep playing after this week as their teams are headed to playoffs.   First up, is Springtown quarterback Kaine Hill who chatted with Taylor after one of the biggest performances in Texas high school football this season. He had a 483-yard, eight-touchdown night, and he tells Taylor what it felt like in the moment, and how he stays composed when the lights were the brightest. Kaine also shared what makes this Springtown team so special as they complete an undefeated regular season for the first time in 37 years and secure back-to-back district titles. He gives love to his teammates, talked about the culture in the locker room, and explains how this group has grown together into one of the most exciting teams in the state. Then, Taylor chatted with a returning guest Prosper Walnut Grove running back Cam Newton who had a statement performance in the Week 10 district title game over Melissa. He had 40 carries, 172 yards, and four touchdowns to keep the Wildcats undefeated. Cam talked about the game, what it’s like to carry the ball that many times when the stakes are high his mindset, and how he prepares for those heavy workloads, and the teammates who make it all possible. They discuss his senior season, the emotions of playing his final regular-season game, and the lessons he’s learned leading an undefeated team. Cam opens up about his goals to play at the next level, what kind of player he is, and the work ethic that makes him a difference-maker on and off the field. A conversation about heart, leadership, and believing in your journey and success!

    Episode 128: RB Ernie Powers; LB Tank King; QB Luke McBride

Kicking it off out in El Paso with Franklin High School’s record-breaking running back, Ernie Powers, the current state leader in rushing yards. Ernie opens up about what it’s like to lead the entire state of Texas, how he’s overcome injuries to have the best season of his career, and what drives his relentless mindset on and off the field. Taylor and Ernie talk about his football family, the influence of his older brothers, the pride of representing El Paso, and how Franklin’s team chemistry has fueled their success. From chasing records to savoring senior year moments, Ernie shares a grounded and inspiring perspective on hard work, leadership, and leaving a legacy for the next generation of Cougars. Then Taylor gets to talk to Texas A&M commit Tank King, the heart of Port Arthur Memorial’s undefeated defense and a Texas A&M commit. Tank opens up about his journey through one of the most intense recruitments in the country, holding over 30 offers from top programs and why College Station ultimately felt like home. He shares what it’s been like to have the pressure of recruiting behind him, how he’s soaking in every moment of his senior season, and the emotions leading into his final regular season game. Tank also breaks down the Titans’ 9–0 run, their dominant defense that’s posted three shutouts, and the leadership and chemistry driving one of the best teams in Texas. Then, wrapping up Episode 128 is Lake Travis quarterback Luke McBride to talk about one of the most electric nights in Texas high school football, the Cavaliers’ statement win over rival Westlake in the Battle of the Lakes. Luke breaks down the emotions behind snapping a six-game skid in the rivalry, throwing three touchdowns on a night when Drew Brees was honored at midfield, and what it meant to bring that win home for Lake Travis.
