Should Christians Celebrate Halloween? What the Bible Says About Spiritual Warfare and Fear

Send a question or topic you want to hear Should your family celebrate Halloween? Is a scary movie really “just for fun”? In this episode, Pastors Bryce and Colette Schaffer open the Bible to talk about spiritual warfare, the spirit of fear, and how to choose the right spirit for your home this October. Jesus has already won the battle, so we don’t have to live afraid. But Scripture warns us not to be ignorant of the enemy, who disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). Bryce and Colette share a brief history of Halloween, All Saints Day, and Reformation Day, then offer three biblical ways Christian families can respond: abstain, choose an alternative, or engage and evangelize. You’ll also hear why fear-based entertainment can open the door to anxiety and strongholds (2 Timothy 1:7), how to tell Christ-centered stories like Narnia apart from content that points toward darkness, and why believers should know the Holy Spirit better than any other spirit. Scriptures in this episode: Ephesians 6:12, John 8:44, 1 Peter 5:8, 2 Corinthians 4:4, 2 Corinthians 11:14, Philippians 4:8, 2 Timothy 1:7, Proverbs 4:23, 1 John 4:1, 2 Corinthians 10:5, 1 Corinthians 10:23–24, Romans 6, Romans 12:1–2, Luke 10:17 Resources: Schafferministries.com How Healthy Is Your Marriage?
