The artwork with Olya Dyer

Episode 4 • The artwork with Olya Dyer  Welcome to the 4th and final episode of the series "What it takes to create a record". We take you behind the scenes of the creation of a record and share and highlight the energies that are needed, their time, their capacity, their magic and spirit, the joys and the frustrations of creation. This episode is a conversation with my friend Olya Dyer, who became Laura'a visual partner in crime over the last few years. She usually tours with her band The Underground Youth and takes care of graphics, concert posters, and visual art "on the road". I'm very grateful the pandemic gave us time to hang out in the same city and create together. She was in charge not only of the Rockpalast poster for the original show, but also for the record's artwork and our videos as well. I guess you can hear me very clearly being a fan and a friend as well - giggling together through our 1-hour conversation. So excited for you to listen, for your feedback and questions. Please welcome: Olya Dyer who did the artwork and videos for the upcoming record "Live at Rockpalast". This podcast is supported by the Cosmic Dreaming community on Patreon. The series focuses on her 2020 album “Laura Carbone – Live at Rockpalast”, which developed from a major live TV appearance by Laura and her band in late 2019. Having originally planned to record her next studio album in 2020, Covid and lockdown forced Laura to react and rethink how to best reach out to her audience, from her own isolation, to theirs. Over the four episodes recorded in mid-2020, Laura speaks with her band members, with mixer Scott Von Ryper, with mastering engineer Philipp Welsing, and finally with her visual partner-in-crime, graphic artist and video director Olya Dyer. She deep dives with all of them into their work and the processes, thoughts, feelings and challenges each person, including herself, faced in growing this unlikely seed of an idea into a reality, an actual thing that people all over the globe can now hold in their hands. Originally recorded for her Patreon patrons whose support contributed to funding the podcast project, Laura is now bringing the series to the public in celebration of the imminent release of the limited-edition, individually colored recycled vinyl version of “Laura Carbone – Live at Rockpalast” on Atlantic Curve records. Special offering when ordering on her website: The inlaid poster in the vinyl package is hand-signed by Laura and each member of her Rockpalast band… just one way Laura is saying “Thank you” to her fans around the world and reconnecting with them in a healing-hands-on way.

    The master with Philipp Welsing

Episode 3 • The master with Philipp Welsing In the third episode of the podcast (recorded in late summer 2020), we have the pleasure to welcome my longtime mastering engineer and friend Philipp Welsing.  We speak about the art of mastering, its technical aspects and what exactly mastering does to a recording. We also talk about his recent experience entering a global pandemic and the kind of pleasure he has already knowing how it is to live in an isolated space - oh yes, and Rockpalast for sure, too. We recorded this episode in German following our mother tongue. Hopefully we're shedding some light into this black box and you find some answers to questions you might never had :) If you have more questions or would like to know more about Philipp and his work, please head over to Instagram and follow www.instagram.com/originalmastering/ and www.instagram.com/raumhamburg/ This podcast is supported by the Cosmic Dreaming community on Patreon. We’ll take you behind the scenes of the creation of a record and share and highlight the energies that are needed, their time, their capacity, their magic and spirit. The joys and the frustrations in creation. This episode is a conversation with Scott von Ryper (who usually tours with the The Jesus and Mary Chain or creates music with The Black Ryder).
