How a Rebrand Helped to Bring a New Energy to Rebecca's Business

In today's episode of The Unexpected Entrepreneur Podcast, we chat with our past client Rebecca about her experience rebranding The Maker's Playbook. With a platform helping ceramicists, potters, and all types of makers navigate the world of creating and selling their art, she knew who she wanted to attract and what she had to offer. But the brand just wasn't connecting in the way she wanted it to.  Hear all about how she went from struggling to shake the old luxury photographer mindset of her past and stepped into a new brand that truly represented the joy and energy that her community embodies.  About Rebecca:  Rebecca Ickes Carra has been a self-employed artist for the last 15 years and now shares her photography knowledge and hard-earned business lessons with makers in order to see more independent artists build not only viable, but life-giving businesses. She hosts the Maker's Playbook podcast, which discusses what it's really like to make a living from the things we make and has taught over 200 makers photography skills specifically for ceramics. She has spoken about her experiences as an entrepreneur to classes at DePaul and Harvard Universities and firmly believes a supportive Community of colleagues is essential to surviving as a small business. Rebecca lives with her husband, Francesco, who is a full-time potter and their 75-pound rescue pup, Hendrix on the original homelands of the Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk and Menominee people where the people of Wisconsin's sovereign Aneeshinaabe, Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Onida and Mohican nations remain present - also known as present day, Milwaukee, WI. When she's not creating resources to simplify photography and business for makers, you can find her also at the potter's wheel in their home studio or accidentally taking a nap on the couch when she is trying to finish a book. How a New Site Helped Corey Fit the Final Piece of Attracting Her Dream Couples

In today's episode, we chat with our past client, Corey, about her experience creating a new website earlier this year. We talk about the challenges she was facing before and how everything wasn't quite lining up. Now, since the new website has launched, not only has her site continued to draw in traffic, but she also has a place that she is totally confident sending her clients to and one that she knows is attracting like-minded people.  About Corey:  Corey Lynn Tucker is a destination elopement photographer, hybrid film storyteller, and experience designer for couples who feel most like themselves outside. Her work is shaped by a lifelong connection to the land—from riding horses through open fields as a kid to photographing elopements across places like Acadia, the Tetons, and beyond. That sense of movement, presence, and wildness is at the core of everything she creates. She blends digital, 35mm film, and Super 8 to document elopements in a way that feels textured, nostalgic, and alive—less about posing, more about being in it. At heart, Corey isn't just capturing weddings—she's helping couples slow down, step outside tradition, and create something that actually feels like them. How a New Site Helped Izzy Gain Confidence in Her Online Presence

In today's episode of The Unexpected Entrepreneur Podcast, we are joined by our past client Isabel to talk all about her experience creating a new website with us. After DIYing her site for years, Izzy knew it was time to have a professional site created to help her stand out. Now, she has a site that she can confidently send clients to that not only looks great, but also has everything potential clients need to know she is the perfect fit! About Isabel: I'm a photographer based in Ellicott City, Maryland, originally from Germany, with six years spent living in Puerto Rico and plans to head further north in the near future. My work is rooted in a documentary approach to weddings, with a focus on honest moments, and I also offer branding, family, and portrait sessions shaped by storytelling. I have a studio in Ellicott City where I love to experiment, create, and collaborate. Outside of photography, you'll usually find me outdoors hiking or camping, or at home knitting, crocheting, and playing music. I'm always up for a good road trip or a night around a bonfire. I share my life with my cat, Coco, who I firmly believe is the best cat in the world. How a Rebrand Helped Mio Step Into the Next Era of His Business

In today's episode of The Unexpected Entrepreneur Podcast, we are joined by our past client Mio to talk all about his rebrand experience. From having a brand that he had completely DIY'd to changing his name and creating a completely new brand presence, we talk about why he felt like now was the time and some of his favorite parts of the new brand!  About Mio: Mio Sison III is a luxury wedding photographer based in Denver, Colorado, whose path to the camera ran through biotech labs and years of catering luxury weddings before the camera finally won. Six years working hospitality during college and grad school gave him something most photographers don't train for: a genuine instinct to take care of people, read a room, and be fully present on a day that only happens once. He founded Mio Sison Studio on the belief that the best wedding photos happen when couples forget there's a photographer in the room at all, and he earns that trust through extended engagement sessions, deep pre-wedding communication, and showing up to every wedding feeling less like a vendor and more like a longtime friend. His work spans Colorado, Chicago, and destination weddings worldwide, blending fine art editorial aesthetics with a documentary eye that catches the moments nobody called out. He currently serves as Treasurer of WIPA Colorado, where he's invested in raising the bar for photographers and wedding industry professionals alike. Off the clock, you'll most likely find him somewhere in the Rockies on skis.
