Yes, as a yoga instructor and practitioner with a very "healthy" lifestyle, I've been driven to a carnivore diet not by choice but by necessity. Due to toxic mold exposure for over 7.5 years, which was hidden in my very expensive rental in Marin County, CA, I developed mast cell activation which is when the immune system goes into overdrive. Inhaling mycotoxins (mold spores) for many years lead to mold colonizing my microbiome (gut), which has created a leaky gut and lead to a chronic illness response. Leaky gut basically sets you up for food intolerances that seem inconceivable and strange. It's because the barrier in your microbiome has been compromised, allowing food particles, bacteria and other toxins into the bloodstream. The immune system sees this as a "threat" and creates a reaction. Over time, due to toxic mold exposure and 2 bouts of COVID in 2022, food intolerances restricted me to the point of only being able to eat grass fed, grass finished organic animal products such as eggs, non aged beef, poultry, pork, fish, dairy, butter, cream as well as a small amount of jasmine rice, blueberries, mango and mold free coffee. It has eliminated all grains, 99% of vegetables + fruit (this includes nuts), all sugar, alcohol, 99% of tea and spices. It narrowed my tolerances so much that I ended up with a carnivore-ish diet as a way to heal my microbiome while detoxing from mold and reducing mast cell activation (calming my immune response). There is a ton of studies and data on how a carnivore diet benefits people in terms of healing gut issues, depression, anxiety, skin disorders and other inflammatory symptoms.
